Learning how to assign Pals to the ranch in Palworld is a great way to farm materials while you’re away from your base. Consider it more like passive income, where you don’t have to do much, yet still make a ton of profit. Of course, while you can make the ranch early, you can’t assign every Pal to it because of certain restrictions.
- The Ranch is a Production Item unlocked at Level 5 in Palworld, allowing Pals to produce and drop raw materials like Wool and Leather.
- Players can assign Pals to the Ranch by lifting them and dropping them into the ranch, after which the Pals will start automatically dropping materials.
- At the ranch, players can only utilize Pals with the Farming Work Suitability, and a higher Farming Level means more daily drops by the Pal.
- To see what items a Pal can drop, players can visit the Paldeck and check the “Possible Drops” section.
- Players can assign as many Pals as they want, but assigning a Pal to a ranch in Palworld will prevent them from working on anything else.
How To Assign Pals To The Ranch In Palworld
To assign a Pal to the ranch, players must lift a Pal from their base which has the Farming Work Suitability Trait, and drop it off at the ranch.
You can use the Pal’s Farming Level to determine their drop rate. The higher the Farming Level, the more items they’ll produce at the ranch per day. As such, if you want to make your rank as productive as possible, try to find and catch Pals with Level 2+ Farming Level.
To see what items a specific Pal can drop, here’s what you need to do:
- Go to the menu and head over to the Paldeck tab.
- Scroll down and select any Captured Pal that you can utilize at the ranch.
- On the right side, you will see the “Possible Drops” section underneath Work Suitability, which shows the items that Pal can drop.
Needless to say, once you assign a Pal to a ranch, they won’t be able to perform any other tasks. Most high-tier Pals don’t have the Farming trait, so they’re unusable. Furthermore, I’d recommend assigning 20% of your workforce to the ranch for steady production. However, if you’re like me and you like to go on expeditions often, you can assign many more Pals.
Collecting Items From The Ranch
After assigning a Pal, you can rest easy and do other tasks. Over time, your Pals will produce materials which you must manually collect by heading over to the ranch. Pals will produce regardless of space, so even if you visit after a long time, they will keep producing even if the ranch is filled with surplus.
There’s no limit as to how many Pals you can assign to the ranch, so, if you want, you can put your entire Pal base to it. Of course, as I mentioned, they may rarely slip out of the ranch, usually when hungry or depressed. So, I suggest keeping an eye on them from time to time.
That wraps up my brief guide on how you can assign a Pal to the ranch in Palworld. Again, this is a great way if you’re looking to farm basic raw materials like Flame Organs and Wool, but you’d be better off assigning your Pals somewhere else if you’re focused on quickening your daily tasks. However, one common complaint I’ve gotten from my friends is Pals sometimes not being assigned despite having the Farming Work Suitability. While you’re here, I recommend reading Rabiya’s review on Palworld to see how the title distinguishes itself from being a simple “Pokemon with guns.” For more ways to make your base as productive as possible, check out this guide on building an Egg Incubator to hatch the eggs you’ve collected.
