Story Highlights
- Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most well-recognized RPGs, known for its through-and-through high quality.
- Larian CEO Swen Vincke has confirmed that more content in the name of mod support is coming.
- Players, however, cannot look forward to any Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC. Larian is now focusing on its next game.
Flagged a masterpiece by publications and players across the world, Larian has drawn the line for Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC and expansions, meaning that the RPG won’t be getting additional content. However, some stuff yet remains to be added to the game, and users can look forward to it down the line. As per Larian Studios’ CEO Swen Vincke, content such as mod support and extra animations is coming to the title still.
We’re not done with updating BG3. There’s still a bunch of stuff coming like mod support and extra cinematics for some of the endings. Just not new content,” says Swen.
It’s certainly a sad moment to see Larian Studios step away from the Baldur’s Gate IP in pursuit of new ventures. If there’s a Baldur’s Gate 4 down the road, Larian won’t be the one responsible for making it. “We’re not going to make new expansions which everybody is expecting. We’re not going to make Baldur’s Gate 4 which everybody is expecting us to do,” said the studio CEO.

Larian Is Working Toward Something Huge Now
Baldur’s Gate 3 selling north of 15 million copies and bagging the 2023 Game of the Year award has fueled the Belgian developer’s confidence, so I believe it’s highly likely that all that success has got Larian thinking that it can conquer the world, and rightfully so. According to Swen, the studio is planning a “very big RPG” that’s going to dwarf them all, including Baldur’s Gate 3. Just so you know, I’m already sold.
Baldur’s Gate 3 came out on August 3, 2023, for PC, followed by subsequent ports to other platforms, where eXputer was the first to break the game’s Xbox Series X|S release date ahead of time. Our review of the title held it in high regard, giving it a 5/5 score and calling it “one of the greatest RPGs of all time.”
