Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 5 Arriving This Week; Will Fix Slowdown Bug And More

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been an astounding success, but it is also infected with noticeable bugs and glitches. Larian Studios has been toiling hard to iron out every issue that fans encounter. Now, the team has finally announced the release window for the highly anticipated Patch 5 on Twitter. It is coming out this week and finally tackles the concerning slowdown issue, lag, and much more. The developers are reportedly cooking “a lot” for the fans.

The new update will also resolve an issue with the Astarion character. Patch 4 was huge, taking care of over a thousand bugs sprawling in the RPG. But it also brought the notorious slowdown issue and other bugs in Act 3, which has become the bane of the game’s existence during the later hours of a playthrough. The glitches had gotten so bad that some users have even called Act 3 “unplayable” after the latest patch.

Act 3 has been slowed down a lot on PS5. I hope that gets fixed with the patch. Companions don’t follow. Switching between them takes anywhere between 10-30 seconds. NPCs all over the city will clip through the floor or lag back and forth. Cutscenes also taking almost a minute,” said Nestor on Twitter.

The upcoming Patch 5 is confirmed to fix many issues causing bugs in the later acts for a smoother experience. However, other content and changes coming in the patch are still unclear.

The alluring RPG has stood among the other massive AAA releases this year, almost as an underdog. It garnered unexpected critical acclaim soon after release and dominated the sales and player charts worldwide. As of October, Baldur’s Gate 3 was averaging over 200,000 players daily. It has effectively secured a loyal player base because of its insane replayability and compelling narrative and continues to see improvements after each patch. 

Baldur’s Gate 3 was released with critical reception on August 3, 2023, for PC. The PlayStation 5 launch followed on September 6, and the game’s arrival on Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X is planned for later this year. eXputer’s Huzaifah Durrani has dubbed it “one of the greatest RPGs of all time” in his review with a staggering 5/5 score. He praised the title for incredible worldbuilding, thrilling story, characters, and more.
