BioWare has finally shared a much-needed development concerning Mass Effect 5 after staying quiet for a long time. It has reportedly teased the upcoming entry in the form of a new but short teaser trailer. The trailer was shared to commemorate the N7 Day event often celebrated by the team and the community. It lasts for half a minute and shows a woman walking down the hallway with a coat branded with the N7 Day logo.

The fans have predicted that the walking figure is actually the female protagonist from the original trilogy, “FemShep.” The studio also shared a blog and secretly hid a binary code to add more to the mystery. The blog had hidden binary code that, when debunked, made up the word “Epsilon.” The upcoming entry is rumored to be dubbed the same name. To add more to the mystery, Epsilon is the fifth letter in the Greek Alphabet.

The teaser suggests that a transmission signal was seemingly received from the Andromeda galaxy and is being answered in the Milky Way galaxy. Although, the year of the transmission has been censored. It indicates that the upcoming action RPG may take place in Milky Way or both galaxies. The previous rumors have also suggested that the game will take place in the Milky Way galaxy.

BioWare officially confirmed the existence of the awaited Mass Effect 5 in 2020 through an exciting teaser trailer. The new title is said to be revisiting its roots by ditching open-world elements, as per the accredited gaming industry insider Jez Corden.

Investigating the old trailer also unveiled a possible connection to the original trilogy, which was further teased in the new teaser today. The constellation of tidbits has gotten the Mass Effect fans really excited for what could come next. The IP is among one of the best-selling franchises and is known for its highly engaging narrative and characters, world-building, player choices, and more.

Despite the new trailer, no official release date —let alone a release window— has been confirmed. The general manager three years ago suggested that a veteran team of Mass Effect devs was hard at work to create the next title, but there has mostly only been radio silence since then. The studio is also busy brewing the anticipated Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.

A wave of layoffs hit the BioWare studio a few months ago, causing 50 devs to lose their jobs. The development of both projects was said to be unaffected despite the dismissals. Mass Effect 5 could possibly take another half a decade or a few more years before we get to explore the hearty lore and sci-fi gameplay.
