Rumors have been circulating that implied Dragon Age 4 would have live-service elements. However, BioWare’s executive producer, Michael Gamble, recently took to Twitter to finally squash the gossip for good. He confirmed that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not be a live-service experience, instead, it’s “straight up single player story goodness.”

BioWare has recently published a huge blog, detailing the RPG’s new name and confirming other particulars. It was previously called Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, but the title was switched to better represent the game’s heroes and their stories. The article also references the single-player nature of the upcoming entry to end fans’ concerns. Additionally, it brings up the amazing cast of characters that will be available.

The time we spent experimenting and iterating gradually taught us a lot. This work, and the amazing support from EA, helped us re-focus on creating an incredible single player game, with all the choices, characters and world building you’d expect from us,” reads the blog post.

Dragon Age 4’s Development Has Been Through Many Turbulent Moments 

The rumors about Dragon Age: The Veilguard being a live-service entry make sense once you dive into the game’s troubled history. BioWare also brings it up in the blog. The title’s direction changed many times during its development, with devs even exploring multiplayer and rumored live-service mechanics. However, the RPG is finally out of murky waters, as an insider has suggested a current fiscal year release date.
