Upcoming Mass Effect Game Could Ditch Open World Elements Completely, Suggests Insider

The unnamed Mass Effect title was confirmed in a teaser in 2020 by BioWare in a teaser trailer. However, the devs are also working on another project. No release date has been affirmed yet.

It looks like the next Mass Effect title could resort to shifting towards the series’ no-open-world formula. The notable insider Jez Corden appeared in a podcast episode and talked about the rumor he heard about the game. Around the 1:37:44 time in the video, he said that BioWare is likely going to transition into the same formula the original trilogy used.

I have heard that Mass Effect is ditching open-world to go back to its classic format. I don’t know if that’s accurate 100 percent, but it is an interesting rumor.”

The title lacked the most basic features and also featured a story that was not as captivating as the popular trilogy. It also included barren open-world elements that were not well received. The next Mass Effect entry was confirmed officially by BioWare in 2020 via a compelling teaser trailer. While it did not affirm any necessary details, we know that it is likely going back to the Milky Way galaxy. Currently, the devs at BioWare are busy brewing the anticipated Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. The studio recently fired around 50 employees to ensure the health of the company. However, work on both projects was said to be going smoothly without any hurdles in the way.
