Diablo 4 On Game Pass Requires Battle.Net To Install; Lacks Xbox Achievements Support

The game is arriving soon on Game Pass.

Story Highlights

  • Diablo 4 is arriving soon on Game Pass but requires Battle.net to be installed to play.
  • Due to restrictions in place, the game also completely lacks support for Xbox achievements.
  • Xbox has shared an install process guide to help players grab the game from the service.

Diablo 4’s installation process via Game Pass requires certain extra steps. Xbox has officially published a step-by-step, detailed guide for players to install the game through the subscription service. It will also require you to install Blizzard’s Battle.net launcher to play the game. After that, the system will prompt you to connect your Battle.net account to the Microsoft one. You can play the game via Game Pass on March 28.

Some players have found it to be quite a bummer to require another launcher for playing Diablo 4. One major drawback of using Battle.net is that the entry does not support Xbox achievements. In other words, your gamerscore will not grow by earning achievements during your playthrough. Battle.net will have its own achievement system separate from the Xbox console ecosystem.

Diablo 4 Is A Fun Yet An Expensive Demon-Slaying Experience

The dungeon-crawler has been quite an enjoyable venture for many veteran and new players. It received decent reviews upon launch but suffered from technical issues and arguably dire microtransactions. If you’re unfamiliar, the title can cost a pretty penny of $70, and battle passes go up to $20. Extra purchases—like some skins—can also drain your pockets dry. Regardless, as per the last update, the ARPG had gained over 12 million players.
