Elder Scrolls Online Lead Says The MMO Is Equal To “More Than 10 Single-Player Games”

The dev also thinks ZeniMax is the most productive AAA studio ever.

Story Highlights

  • The Elder Scrolls Online lead dev says it equals more than 10 single-player games.
  • The MMO features a lot of content that arrives in yearly updates.
  • The dev also thinks ZeniMax is the most prolific studio ever because of its milestones.

In an interview with Games Radar, The Elder Scrolls Online narrative director Bill Slavicsek praised how far it has come since its launch. Bill shared that the title was designed to be a collection of single-player experiences wrapped in the MMORPG formula. As a result, a decade of massive yearly updates has made the entry equivalent to over 10 single-player games launching one after another.

That’s the equivalent of more than 10 single player games coming out one right after another, and they all have a certain level of quality that’s just not found anywhere else. We’re proud of that,” says Bill Slavicsek.

Bill thinks the design philosophy behind the game has helped the devs create intricate stories that could not have been possible otherwise. This certain level of quality has only been possible because of what ZeniMax stands for.

I think it also helps that in that 10 years, we have had a constant stream of good releases. I like to say that we’re the most prolific AAA game studio, potentially ever.”

Elder Scrolls Online Has Hours Upon Hours Of Content

Many prominent MMORPGs have left their mark in the gaming industry. However, only a couple have managed to stay relevant in the long term. I feel like no entry can go toe toe-to-toe against ESO because of the sheer amount of content it has piled over the years. But it is still quite fun to slowly ease into all there is to explore. The game also continues to grow, as it gained 24 million players during its 10th anniversary celebration last month.
