ZeniMax Online Studios Developing “Exciting New IP” For Mobile

ZeniMax Online Studios is seemingly working on an unannounced new IP for mobile platforms based on the Unity game engine.

The Elder Scrolls Online certainly comes to mind when the genre of MMOs is discussed. So, it’s no surprise that many fantasy enthusiasts have heard about ZeniMax Online Studios. That talented bunch is behind one of the most popular MMOs out there. Since its release in 2014, The Elder Scrolls Online has acclaimed “MMO of the Year” three times and boasts over 18 million players worldwide.

Earlier today, we stumbled upon a recent job listing by ZeniMax Online Studios, which seems to be hiring “a talented and experienced” Lead Mobile Designer for its unannounced “exciting new IP” for mobile. It appears to be in a primitive development stage since the hiring process is ongoing. Although little is known, the company did mention some clues about this secretive project in its job listing.

The details in the listing suggest that the game is a new IP, and it also specifically mentions The Elder Scrolls franchise, stating, “If you’re a fan of The Elder Scrolls, or looking to work on an exciting new IP, this is the place for you!” That subtle hint might mean that a The Elder Scrolls spin-off could be on the horizon for mobile platforms. Likewise, the game could be a wholly new MMO for mobile. Only time will clear the fog that surrounds this peculiar title. There do not appear to be any more job listings regarding this unannounced title on the company’s website, so the information we have is limited.

Furthermore, the job listing also expects the candidate to create “cross-platform Unity-based projects”, which suggests that the unannounced game will be based on the Unity game engine. Additionally, this new IP may also lean towards being affected by players’ choices, as the job listing mentions, “Bonus points for a focus on systems design that intersects with player choices and how those impacts are felt in the future.”

Last year, Microsft acquired ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks. Studios tend to work on more projects at one time when under Microsoft’s umbrella mainly due to increased investment and resources. So, it’s no wonder that ZeniMax Studios is brewing many unannounced projects, including a confirmed brand new AAA multiplayer game at MachineGames, as we reported back in August 2021. Unfortunately, we don’t have much information about this unannounced “exciting new IP” for mobile besides this recent job listing at the moment. However, we’re excited to see what ZeniMax Online Studios comes up with.

Update: The listing in question is no longer available on ZeniMax’s official website.
