The Long-Awaited Flashback 2 Delayed To Next Year

Developers are "working hard to deliver an adventure matching players’ expectations."

It is not wrong to say that 2022 is a season of delays, with all the major AAA titles being pushed to a 2023 release window. The long-lasting pandemic had shaken the gaming industry, including many others. Developers are still experiencing the after-effects, and delays are to be expected for this year. Many games like Hogwarts Legacy, Deliver Us Mars, among many others have been pushed to next year.

The highly-anticipated sequel returning after 30 years, Flashback 2 appears to be the latest casualty of this phenomenon. The game was earlier slated for a winter 2022 release window. However, the developers have decided to push back the game. The news is a little confusing as the delay was already confirmed in June.

The official announcement appears to be a reconfirmation as if the delay was just determined today. Microids, the team behind Flashback 2 has given no apparent reason behind the delay. However, Microids affirms that they simply seek more time to “match players’ expectations.” The announcement was made on Microids’s’ Twitter handle.

The note ensures that developers are toiling hard to produce a worthwhile sequel, “Our team is working hard to deliver an adventure matchinplayers’s’ expectations for this popular franchise dear to our hearts for now more than three decade”.

The announcement reads, “Originally planned for Winter 2022 on consoles and PC, we took the direction to push the game release back to 2023. A more accurate launch date will be shared at a later time.” Moreover, the developers will “keep you up to date regularly about the development process.”

If you are unfamiliar, the original Flashback, released back in 1992, was an innovative experience that was ahead of its time. The IP featured a rich and engaging story. The original game was a mystifying platformethat’sa’s’ popular for its enchanting visuals and hand-drawn backdrops. Moreover, the classical Flashback is featured among the top 100 games of all time regularly, as shared by microids official site.

Flashback IP has managed to survive, and the sequel is highly anticipated by the community. The initial sequel Fade To Black, and an attempted remake later on did not manage to gain the same popularity and allure as the original Flashback. Flasback 2 has a lot of expectations to fulfill to live up to the nostalgia of the community.

The extra time will be utilized to polish and develop Flashback 2 to perfection. What are your thoughts regarding the sequel being pushed to 2023? Do let us know your opinions in the comments below.
