Hogwarts Legacy Crowned 2023’s Biggest Physical Release In The UK

Even though Hogwarts Legacy got a lot of hate hurled at its face during its launch, the game has still managed to come out on top in terms of having the UK’s biggest physical release in 2023. This is according to stats clocked by trusted research company GfK, which has also listed some of the other top dogs of the previous year, including EA FC 24, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and others.

Keep in mind that these games have been tracked with regard to their physical edition, boxed sales only. The digital aspect yet remains to be covered, and will probably be expanded upon more in the coming days. Hogwarts Legacy remained incredibly successful throughout the year following its release in February. On the occasion of Black Friday, the title became top-seller, overtaking juggernauts such as Modern Warfare 3, and Super Mario RPG.

Furthermore, the official X (previously Twitter) handle of Hogwarts Legacy made a post as well, declaring that Hogwarts Legacy has turned out to be the “#1 selling new release of 2023,” thereby signaling the monumental success of the Harry Potter-inspired RPG. For those not in the know, rumor has it that a sequel to the game is in the works as well. No official has come forth to comment on the matter though.

Hogwarts Legacy initially came out on February 10, 2023, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. In May, the game was released on old-gen consoles too, namely the Xbox One and. PlayStation 4. The developers then decided to port the title on Nintendo Switch as well, the results of which weren’t as nice as launching the RPG on other platforms.
