Hogwarts Legacy’s Becomes Top-Seller On Black Friday

It sprinted just ahead of Modern Warfare 3 to grab the top spot.

Thanks to the occasion of Black Friday, Hogwarts Legacy is back on top of the UK’s boxed charts.

Hogwarts Legacy has remained an utterly successful game throughout 2023, generating sales 256% higher than WB’s expectations. Now that Black Friday is here, and the open-world action-adventure just launched on the Nintendo Switch as well, the title has found itself back at the top on the UK’s boxed charts, according to stats from market research company GfK.

As per the week that ended on November 18, Hogwarts Legacy sprinted just ahead of the mega-popular Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, pushing it to the second spot on the list. The rest of the entrants include EA Sports FC 24, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Super Mario RPG, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Mortal Kombat 1, and a few others.

Adding to this, the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of Hogwarts Legacy made a post a little over a week ago, declaring that the game at hand has remained the top-selling new release of 2023. This, of course, is nothing but a huge feat, considering the overall year and the number of other first-class titles that have managed to come out, namely Alan Wake 2, Resident Evil 4, and more, but, of course, some of the others haven’t had as much time to sell as Hogwarts Legacy.

It was also revealed earlier in a WB earnings call that players have clocked more than 700 million hours on Hogwarts Legacy, which is absolutely monumental, to say the least. Given the success of the RPG based on the novel series by famed author J.K. Rowling, the possibility of a sequel to the title is easily foreseeable, and as per a recent rumor, this might very well be manifesting so.

Hogwarts Legacy traces its release back to February 10, 2023, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A few months later, the game was ported to old-gen consoles as well, particularly for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in May. Quite recently, the RPG found itself landing on Nintendo Switch as well, thereby becoming available on all modern-day video game platforms.

eXputer, in its review, rated the game 4.5/5, with Asad Ahmed saying, “This is easily one of the best Harry Potter games to date, if not the best one ever.” On a side note, new players should check out this guide on all spells in Hogwarts Legacy and how to unlock them to take on higher-powered foes with relative ease.
