Yesterday, there were some that Like a Dragon: Ishin! Combat Demo might go live on February 16. Those reports seem to have come true as both Xbox and PlayStation announced the availability of the combat demo on their respective consoles. The demo is also released for PC via Steam.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! Combat Demo is free-to-play. But unlike the game’s final release, the demo is made available on limited platforms. For Xbox, it is only released for Xbox Series X|S, and for PlayStation, the demo was made available only on PlayStation 5. While on PC, it can be played via Steam.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! is a remake of a Japan-exclusive game, Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin! The action-adventure video game was released back in 2014 for PS3 and PlayStation 4. The game is a spin-off of the Like a Dragon series which was known as Yakuza until it was renamed last year.

Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin!, just like the original series, became a huge hit in Japan. It was praised for its unique combination of combat and cinematic storytelling. Due to the game’s success, there was a huge demand from western fans of the Like a Dragon series to release the game worldwide.

But that demand was mostly ignored by SEGA. The company was skeptical about releasing the game outside of Japan as they were unsure of its success. But the extraordinary success of Ghost of Tsushima in the West seemingly prompted SEGA to reconsider. As Ghost of Tsushima also shared many aspects with SEGA’s action-adventure series.

And now the release of the Like a Dragon: Ishin! Combat Demo a week ahead of the full release is sure to satisfy the fans. Despite all the excitement surrounding the demo release, there’s one aspect people are seemingly not too happy about. And that is the fact that save data from the demo can not be carried to the full game.

Nevertheless, it can not outweigh the fans’ relief of finally getting their hands on a title they had been demanding for almost four years now.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! Combat Demo is available for free on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. While the full game costs $59.99 and is scheduled for worldwide release on 21st February for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
