Story Highlights
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is yet another addition to PlayStation’s shining catalog of exclusives.
- The game launched in recent times and is mostly bug-free and fairly optimized.
- However, a new exploit discovered by a player lets you free-roam as Peter across New York City.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been a total success for both Insomniac Games and PlayStation so far. Not only has it stood out as being fairly bug-free for the larger part, but it’s also a terrific improvement over its predecessor. That said, there are still some glitches here and there that pop up somewhere in New York for both Peter and Miles, and this latest one discovered by a player is a real charmer.
Ever wanted to swing around NYC as Peter Parker and not Spider-Man? This new bug has you covered. Thanks to OoBVault who found the exploit first, there is an actual way to don a younger version of Peter Parker and trick the character into breaking away from the linear side-quest and exploring the map at will afterward. However, as always with these glitches, there’s something that you have to pull off first.
To get started, you need to have The Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man App opened up on your end and be able to access the side-mission called Photo Help, which is where Peter goes on a little trip down memory lane. However, instead of waltzing about the usual mission line, you go off-track just a bit, and eventually find yourself going out of bounds.

Surprisingly, there’s no “Mission Failed” screen or anything of the like popping up, so what you do is go straight ahead toward the dock after glitching out, and jump in the water while Peter is on the bicycle. Once done, Peter will instantly zip his way back to shore, unlocking easy free-roam access afterward. Thank God that the NPCs don’t notice anything as Peter goes about New York without breaking a sweat.
As interesting as all the above is, it’s not the only glitch that players have been able to dig up in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. From turning Kraven into a cube to Venom riding a bicycle in the goofiest manner ever, players have been having tons of fun with this particular aspect of the action adventure as well. For those who missed it, an out-of-bounds exploit even determines what happens to poor Rhino in the game.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was released on October 20, 2023, for the PlayStation 5. eXputer reviewed the game, rating it 4/5 and shedding light on its open-world, stealth mechanics, combat, and accessibility features. If you’re just getting started with the title, here are the best Spider-Man 2 easter eggs for you to explore and enjoy the incoming nerdgasms afterward.
