Palworld has become the most popular game to release this year. Pocket Pair is also enjoying remarkable success, but the devs are already looking ahead to secure a bright long-lasting future for it. The company CEO Takuro Mizobe recently appeared in an interview with Automaton, and claimed that the title is “about 60% complete.” It has still a long way to go, with many features already in consideration depending on player reactions.
I think all the basic functions are set, so perhaps about 60% complete? The next phase is all about further perfecting the game. […] We know what kind of game we’re making. […] We’re also prepared to add new game functions, so we will observe user reactions and decide what to prioritize based on what everyone wants,” said the CEO.
The PvP features in Palworld are among the most anticipated in the community. The CEO addressed them and said it is “harsh territory” and the studio is “not very optimistic” about its implementation. The main reason behind such a stance has to do with “how to” add PvP in the first place. The devs want to add a type of player-versus-player battle system that is unique and retains a reason for Palworld players to want to play it.
The important points that remain are how we’re going to implement PvP and to what extent we’re going to release new content. […] PvP is really difficult. First of all, we need to think about why we are introducing PvP to Palworld.”
Takuro further mentions that many games already offer a fun PvP experience, and Palworld wants to stand out from them. As a result, the dev thinks that the chances that PvP succeeds in the game are “below 10%.” The devs are currently considering the various battle formats for the entry. On the other hand, other new content is also planned for Palworld.
