Payday 2 Update 240 Is A Massive Quality-Of-Life Upgrade

Last update before Payday 3's release.

Story Highlights

  • Payday 2 update 240 is here, and it brings many quality-of-life changes, including heist optimizations, UI changes, achievement fixes, and much more.
  • This will be the last Payday 2 update before the release of Payday 3, which is why many call it the “final update” of the game.
  • Even so, there can be more similar updates in the future, but only after the release of the next iteration.
  • Payday 2 was released over a decade ago on PlayStation 3 & 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Linux, and PC.

Payday 2 has just received its update 240, and it adds numerous quality-of-life changes and optimizations to improve the state of the game further. It will be the last major update before Payday 3 launches on September 21. Since it mainly optimizes aspects of the game along with some changes, the size of this update sits at a mere 114 MB.

After the update, several heists will be optimized with portals, including Hell’s Island, Border Crossing, Bulucs Mansion, San Martin, and White House. These are the area portals that will improve how the game renders objects despite being in view. An issue that caused team AI to get stuck out of bounds on Hell’s Island has been fixed.

In the mission briefing, “Buy all assets” did not let players buy all assets if they did not have enough cash; that should no longer be the case. Another bug where a guard would get stuck in a specific position on Diamond Heist has been fixed. Aside from the heist optimizations, we also have some gameplay changes that one could consider a quality-of-life addition.

Special enemies will now be registered as special enemies to help with achievements; for example, mini dozer, medic dozer, and headless dozer will be registered as dozer spawns. Marshal shields are counted in the spawn shield cap. Marksmen and Marshal shields will be counted as special enemies for skills & achievements. In some situations, a bug made enemies too accurate, which has been dealt with.

An issue that caused weapon preset modifications intended for the minigun dozer to apply to the dozer instead has been fixed. Fire mode tables for enemy AI have been adjusted to function as intended. In addition to the gameplay changes, special events will now be re-enabled on specific times and dates.

There are also some weapons and mods changes that players will observe after the update. A bug that caused the weapon reload stop not to work when it is supposed to be interrupted has been fixed. Weapon mods with falloff will now be displayed on a weapon in the inventory. The optimal range stat in the inventory should now show the mods’ effect on it.

A crash that occurred when updating weapon charms should be fixed. Another similar crash happened when updating the bullet belt on SG Versteckt 51D LMG, which should no longer appear. Syncing the under-barrel switch crashed the game, which has been addressed. Weapon stats boosts that can only be obtained through skins can now be purchased for continental coins.

Some weapons have also been buffed in this update; the IZHMA 12G Shotgun now has 4 more rounds with the total ammo. MA-17 Flamethrower’s damage has been increased by 1. Deagle Pistol, Eagle Heavy Rifle, Tempest-21 Rifle, and AMR-16 Rifle now have 8 more stability.

Other miscellaneous changes include a bug fix that caused some platform players to hear a loud sound at the start of the intro video. The translator plauqe in the safe house has been updated. A crash occurring in civilian damage when the unit was missing some features has been fixed. Another similar crash that happened when civilians were damaged by fire has been addressed.

An issue causing “recently played with on Steam” to not function as intended has been fixed. Several issues that caused crashes upon joining a game or entering a vehicle have now been cleared. An issue that caused melee weapons to be unequipped when selected “unacquire” has been fixed. Lastly, melee weapons should now use intended idle animations instead of those made for guns.

This update may not work correctly for people using mods, so it is advised that they remove or uninstall any mods that can cause potential problems. It should be noted that not all mods can cause issues, so do tread cautiously.
