It is official; the PlayStation 2 has now been confirmed to have sold over 160 million units globally. The tidbit was affirmed by Jim Ryan—the soon-to-depart CEO of the PlayStation brand—during an official podcast episode. While reminiscing over the 2000s, Jim Ryan was asked about what the era made him think first. He shared the sales milestone and called it a high watermark for the industry. You can hear his words around the 14:50 mark.

The 2000s? That would be, I would say, 160 million, which is the number of PS2s that we sold. A high watermark,” said Jim Ryan.

The rumors about the significant milestones for the PlayStation 2 have persisted for many a year. The console has continued to leave an indelible mark even when Sony stopped announcing the official sales of the platform. As a result, many gamers across the various communities are celebrating the milestone shared by Jim Ryan.
