PSN Search Bar upgrade: Sony rolls out new Search Tool with upcoming 6.00 update

Sony has been working on the next major update for its XMB for the PlayStation 4. The upcoming update will be the version 6.00 and is due to come out in the weeks to come. Beta versions of this update have been rolled out previously and gave users an early introduction to the features that come bundled along with it. A surprising and quite awaited feature is the change made to the search bar on the new update that caught everyone’s eye in various betas.

The search bar previously, not a bar even, was a little difficult to work with, with so many tabs opening up one after the other as an alphabet was chosen. The old and fatiguing scrolling function had all the players spending minutes to find what they searched for. The old scrolling bar has been displayed below

The new one, on the other hand, features the classic keyboard on the screen that has been seen before while entering text on the messaging app on the PlayStation. It is also used to enter credit card information and other information such as the Wifi or other networking details. To understand clearly, a screenshot of the bar has been posted below

Although a confirmed date for the 6.00 update has yet to be announced, the new features that come along with it have been reported by a couple of users. Some of those users also reported the use of the new search bar and explain the convenience that follows with it. For the ones that still haven’t received said update would have to wait though.
