Rumored FromSoftware Title Might Be Shown Around June 2024

Planned release is allegedly around Q1 2025.

Story Highlights

  • New leaks have surfaced for the rumored FromSoftware game, Spellbound, claiming that it will be shown around June 2024.
  • The two leakers have stated that they received an image of the in-game map, describing a central dungeon, open-world areas, and other elements.
  • FromSoftware has an unannounced project in development since 2022. At this point, however, there’s not enough information lending to the legitimacy of these leaks.

The rumored FromSoftware game, Spellbound, is allegedly going to be shown around June 2024 according to u/FeistyPresentIndulge. Based on the minor updates shared by them, they confirmed that the game will not be revealed at The Game Awards 2023. Providing a disclaimer, they stated that the original 4chan leaker claimed that they did not receive any such confirmations so we advise taking this with several servings of salt.

Given the timeframe of June 2024, Feisty states that FromSoftware will present Spellbound at whatever substitute event around that period such as Summer Games Fest, Microsoft Showcase, Sony‘s State of Play, etc. Moreover, the presentation will include a gameplay trailer in place of CGI cinematics. Expanding upon the information, the planned release window of the title is allegedly around February-March 2025.

Based on the conversation between Feisty and the 4chan leaker, the latter hasn’t seen any firm evidence pointing toward a character creator. Additionally, the only character they have discovered is the male featured in the first image that was posted a few months ago. The 4chan leaker has allegedly seen screenshots where the player character is swimming in underwater areas. While there have been minor differences between the two sides, Feisty states nothing raised any red flags.

Moving on, the new post by Feisty states that the two sides have personally received an image of this rumored FromSoftware game, making them confident in its legitimacy. Though it can’t be shared at the moment, some brief details were pointed out to the public.

Allegedly, this map shows a central dungeon, Kenraith, by the sea which is divided by channels similar to Amsterdam or Venice. Moreover, the main city is surrounded by an open world with little villages spread across the entire plane of the game. Given this description of the map, it’s easy to spot design similarities with the previous works of FromSoftware, like Elden Ring, but at the end of the day, this is still a rumor that lacks official statements and corroborations.

Spellbound first surfaced online earlier this year and received a resounding dismissal from players. Claiming that the picture looked AI-generated, many believed that it was an attempt at raising hopes and causing a buzz. While that’s a reasonable approach, it must be noted that FromSoftware has been working on an unannounced project since 2022.

This was discovered via the LinkedIn profile of a producer/director at FromSoftware. Given that it’s an entirely different project, Miyazaki’s desire to work on something related to abstract fantasy, and FromSoft working on multiple projects with short periods between releases, there may be a grain of truth somewhere in the rumor mill. Nevertheless, it’s all speculation and theory crafting at the moment so we advise you to stay sharp.
