Sifu Has Sold Over 50,000 Copies On Steam Since PC Launch

The indie game also has 94% positive reviews on the platform.

Story Highlights

  • Sifu reached the 50k sales milestone on Steam just days after its release on March 28, 2023.
  • The Sloclap game launched on the platform after a year of Epic Games Store exclusivity and already has a 94% approval score.
  • Its subreddit also has over 20k people now, according to a tweet from the game’s official account.

Sifu has already sold 50,000 units on Steam just four days after its release on the platform. The Sloclap beat ’em up came out on PC last year as an Epic Game Store timed exclusive. But it finally made its way to Steam on March 28, 2023, after that exclusivity period ended. And, as the sales numbers suggest, Sifu has started really well on Steam.

The game’s official Twitter account reported that it has a 94% positive review rating on Steam. Over 800 players have reviewed Sifu as of now, so this rating reflects the views of a sizeable sample of users. In addition, Sloclap’s action title has reached another landmark, but this time on Reddit. The game’s subreddit has now crossed 20k users, as per the tweet from the official Sifu page.

Hence, Sifu is still achieving new milestones and seeing success over a year after its original release. The Steam sales are especially remarkable considering how it has been available on Epic Game Store since the start. And, when you add the bad regional pricing on Steam to this, this performance seems even better. But, considering how good the game is, this is no surprise.

Sifu was one of the best indie games and action titles of 2022, receiving several accolades. It got nominated for the best independent game at The Game Awards alongside one for the best fighting game. Furthermore, the Sloclap title also received praise for its action elements, getting two nominations in the best action game category.

Besides the award designation, it has been a commercial and critical success. Critics and fans alike showered praise on the game’s structure, narrative, and intensely rewarding combat. Sifu’s camera issues and bland story have been the center of some controversy, but the overall reception has been positive. And the action title’s sales back this up.

In just its first 48 hours, Sifu sold over 500,000 copies worldwide on all platforms. By March 2022, only a month after its release, it had sold 1 million copies and reached the 2 million landmark this February. Sloclap’s parent company Kepler Interactive also highlighted how successful Sifu was alongside Ebb Software’s Scorn. With this new release on Steam and the game also arriving on Xbox consoles a few days ago, its sales are only going up.

You can play Sifu right now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
