Sony Putting Together An Internal Dev Team With Naughty Dog For An Unannounced AAA Title

An internal dev team is being put together "in partnership with Visual Arts."

Sony is apparently hard at work, attempting to formulate a new internal game development team in collaboration with Visual Arts—the “award-winning, full-production group” that contributed to The Last of Us game series.

The best part is that Naughty Dog seems to be in on the fun as well, according to the Senior Producer job listing posted on Greenhouse. The whole “high visibility project,” therefore, is being set up to cater to an unannounced AAA title that Sony hasn’t spilled the beans on yet.

The Rundown:

  • According to a recent job vacancy for the Senior Producer position uploaded on Greenhouse, Sony seems to be working on an unannounced title with Naughty Dog in collaboration with the motion capture, animation, and cinematic art production group that contributed to The Last of Us survival horror series.
  • Although not explicitly stated that this unannounced title is AAA-quality, the “Requirements” section of the listing warrants the ideal candidate to have working on at least 2 or more published AAA titles.
  • Sony has a “we have a clear vision and plan to release” this under-the-works title.

If you head over to the job posting yourself, you’ll discover that Sony is pretty adamant about seeing this unannounced title live up to a full release. It’s stated, “This high visibility project is being developed in collaboration with Naughty Dog. Though currently unannounced, we have a clear vision and plan to release.

In addition, the job posting further states that the existing legacy of the developers more or less guarantees “a high visual quality bar for the game and a compelling experience for players.”

Sony certainly seems to be cooking up something and the fact that the famed The Uncharted series developer is onboard definitely harbors newfound excitement. With that said, the job listing doesn’t blatantly term this upcoming unannounced title to be AAA.

However, it’s easy to speculate from the “Requirements” section of the Senior Producer job listing that the game, in fact, will be AAA-quality. One of the bullet points of this area is along the lines of, “Two or more published AAA titles, at least one of which must have been as a Senior Producer during the entire development cycle.”

Moreover, the starting phase of the vacancy also sheds light on what the perfect person for the job would strive to have as part of their skill set. The description reads, “As the ideal candidate, you will be proficient in all aspects of AAA game production and management.”

It’s pretty much apparent that this isn’t going to be anything south of an AAA-grade title. With the presence of such power players in Sony’s company that are told to be working on this game — Naughty Dog and PSS Visual Arts — there’s a lot that needs to unfold here.

Unfortunately, not much info apart from the scope and type of this project has been revealed in the job listing. We are yet to uncover whether this unannounced game relates to an existing Sony IP or a brand-new title altogether.

Thus begins the waiting game as to how the situation develops and the developers shed more light on the scenario in question. Do let us know what you think of this news in the comments section ahead.
