  • The decision was made to ensure the quality of the collectible items is able to meet the standards. The change will go into effect from February 21st.
  • Moreover, only the Ultimate Edition will be affected by the new price change. The other editions will keep the same old price, as clarified by the Twitter handle in a new thread.

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is a highly awaited AAA title that features one of the best recreations of nuclear fallout. The anticipated sequel is being developed by GSC World, and it has been in development for many years at this point. However, recent world events have affected the game, as noted by the studio on the Twitter handle.

As noted by the Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl developers on Twitter, the title’s Ultimate Edition is slated to suffer a price increase in the near future. The Ultimate Edition is the highest-tier physical launch of a game, which often features collectibles and figurines. The game also brings a slew of enticing items with its most expensive edition.

The Stalker 2 developer GSC World wants to uphold the grade of the Ultimate Edition amid these “uneasy times.” So, the choice to bump up the cost was made to ensure the quality is not affected despite the increasing price of materials. The price has been raised from $339 to $379 due to the ongoing economic recession.

The price change will take effect following February 21st and will only alter the top-tier price, as noted by the developer. GSC World was able to ensure the other versions are able to keep the same old price tag.

The “uneasy times” directly refer to the ongoing dreaded Russia and Ukraine war, which has shaken the world’s economy by a wide margin. The war has led to tragic results for local game developers in Ukraine. The Kyiv-based GSC Game World is also dealing with the effects of the war, which influenced this decision.

The Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl Ultimate Edition boasts the entire game and Season Pass, which grants access to all DLC. Moreover, the highest tier also includes commodities like a steel book, a Stalker model, a themed bag pack, and a scary lamp that resembles an in-game creature.

Some extras like a letter from the developers, a Zone permit, a military token, a complete map of The Zone, themed stickers, and an art book also come with it. The Stalker 2 Ultimate Edition can be pre-ordered from GSC World’s official website

The decision to increase the price of Stalker 2 Ultimate Edition is to be expected, and GSC World appears to have thought long and hard before going through with the decision. The community has supported the decision in the replies, with many still showing interest in buying the Ultimate Edition.

The game has felt many suspensions throughout its development, and the recent war has further led to more delays. Despite the ongoing war, Stalker 2 still appears to be going for a 2023 release; no release date has been officially revealed at the time of writing. However, it could be pushed to the next year or two, as per old reports.

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is set in an alternate post-apocalyptic nuclear fallout, where unexplainable anomalies roam the Chornobyl exclusion zone. It features heavy survival and horror elements and will feature mechanics, including hunger, sleeping, bleeding, and radiation effects.
