New Content For Stardew Valley 1.6 Update Confirmed As Haunted Chocolatier Gets Shelved

While Stardew Valley faces a whole new update, Haunted Chocolatier development has been halted.

Story Highlights

  • Stardew Valley developer ConcernedApe has shared more details and officially confirmed the 1.6 updates, affirming new content for it.
  • The player content will include new dialogues for the existing characters in Stardew Valley, adding more flair to their personalities.
  • ConcernedApe’s current project, Haunted Chocolatier, has been shelved for the time being and will resume after the SDV update 1.6 is released.
  • The dev also confirmed new details for the upcoming title; the town in Haunted Chocolatier is based on water, and it also has docks.

After dead silence on the upcoming Stardew Valley 1.6 update, more details for it have finally emerged. ConcernedApe recently took to Twitter and has shared many enticing specifics for the planned patch. It will seemingly cater more towards the needs of modders in the community, further fueling the already robust modding scene. The new update will make it much easier for modders and users to play the vast roster of mods.

As stated, new content can also be expected in the new Stardew Valley 1.6 update, although it will be quite smaller in size than the usual updates that felt more like large expansion packs in the past. While much of the new content still remains shrouded by the developer ConcernedApe, he was nice enough to reply to some of the comments on Twitter. He ended up sharing one of the major additions to the impending 1.6 patch.

The beloved characters in the game will reportedly receive more dialogue options, adding more flair to their personalities. All the Stardew Valley characters have been beautifully put together, ranging from shy to eccentric natures. The new update will give them more character, making it more rewarding to spend time and converse with the different NPCs spread throughout the town of Stardew Valley.

On the other hand, the developer has also provided an update on his current project, the highly awaited Haunted Chocolatier. The project currently in the brewer has reportedly been shelved for the time being, and ConcernedApe is deeply focused on the new Stardew Valley 1.6 patch so that it can be concluded quicker than before. The Haunted Chocolatier will continue developing again once the new 1.6 patch is pushed out.

To add more spice to the platter, the developer also dumped information on Haunted Chocolatier, revealing the nature of the townlet where it takes place. In another fan query, the user was curious to learn a satisfying tidbit about the upcoming project. ConcernedApe went with it and casually exposed new information about Haunted Chocolatier’s equivalent of Pelican Town.

While the new info seems vague, it is still a good dose of official tidbits we’d be getting for a while. ConcernedApe can be very secretive with his projects, and hearing any news about them is as rare as getting a prismatic shard out of a trash can in Stardew Valley. It is worth noting that the new content in the upcoming update will be relatively smaller than the last one. The 1.5 update previously included a slew of new content.

Stardew Valley 1.6 update will add a lot of back-end changes to make modding an even more delightful experience. It will improve the performance of users who enjoy playing with hundreds upon hundreds of mods at the same time. Moreover, modders can quickly whip up changes, deal with compatibility with other mods, and do much more with the new update. The ample changes can be read in the Stardew Valley wiki here.
