Tekken 7 Has Sold More Than 10 Million Units, Says Harada

A huge feat bar none.

Tekken 7 seems to have achieved a terrific milestone, selling 10 million copies in total lifetime sales. The news comes from Katsuhiro Harada — world-renowned director of the Tekken series — who seemingly took to Twitter to make the grand announcement.

  • Tekken 7 is the seventh main and ninth overall installment in the Tekken series.
  • It was released to arcades in March 2015. An updated arcade version, Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, was released in July 2016.
  • It is one of the most popular games amongst fans and as of December 11, 2022, it has astonishingly sold ten million copies.

For Katsuhiro Harada, this was a huge moment. It is because he has given a huge chunk of his career to the franchise. He has, in fact, worked on the Tekken franchise for the past 28 years.

In his tweet, he gives the game’s fans great news about the milestone Tekken 7 has surpassed. Since Tekken 7 has reached the ten million mark, it means that the game now has a record of fifty-four million copies sold. At the end of his tweet, as per usual, Katsuhiro Harada thanked his fans.

Just recently, in June of this year, Tekken 7 had sold nine million copies and in the seven months leading up to December, an additional million copies were sold globally.

Fans unanimously seem to agree that Tekken 7 deserved this win. One fan said, “Great game, well deserved.” Moreover, some fans already have their eyes set on the next part of the game.

One interesting part of the announcements that Katsuhiro Harada makes is the art that comes along with the tweet. Fans always seem to enjoy the art piece.
