Valorant Could Soon Be Arriving On Consoles, Job Listings Suggest

The rumors regarding the 5v5 tactical FPS experience heading to console platforms further ripen.

Valorant is a well-renowned free-to-play tactical hero shooter that appears to be a cartoony rendition of the Counter-Strike series. It is based on heroes and their abilities while also requiring tactical gunfighting skills to overwhelm opponents. The game has remained a PC exclusive for its lifetime, but it may change soon.

Many rumors have suggested Riot Games’ plans to bring the multiplayer shooter to the console platforms. So far, the rumors were merely supported by data mines and fables, but the latest official wordings further girded the hopes of the community.

The recently sighted job listings to hire developers further hint toward Valorant‘s eventual voyage on the console platforms. Both the listings are by Riot Games for Valorant, with one seeking an employee for the senior game designer, console, position and the second for the position of game design manager, console.

Major Rundown

  • Riot Games have recently published job listings that heavily hint towards the console version of Valorant.
  • The listings mention phrases like “develop a vision for combat in Valorant on consoles.
  • Previous data mines added lines in Valorant strings and referenced PSN and Xbox Live versions, supporting the rumor.
  • The Xbox and Bethesda event in June and icons discovered for PlayStation and Xbox controls additionally solidified the rumors rife in the community.

One of the job listings includes a mention of Valorant exclusively alongside words like gamepads, the handling of the console version, and other inclusions.

The game design manager’s listing description notes, “You will be responsible for upholding design principles that define VALORANT on PC while transforming it into the definitive tactical shooter for Consoles.

It continues and mentions gamepads, writing about how Valorant’s challenging PC gameplay will be transformed “to work for an audience playing on the gamepad.

Moreover, the game design manager’s listing further hints at the game’s appearance on consoles. The responsibilities read, “Work with team leads to develop a vision for combat in Valorant on consoles.

Furthermore, one of the lines from the senior game designer job listing cites, “Design and refine features, modes, and systems to help bring console game products to market.”

Many rumors have alluded to Riot Games’ plan to bring the PC-exclusive FPS shooter on the console platforms in the past. It is worth noting that no specific brand of consoles is linked. The various data mines discovered this year revealed possibilities of Valorant coming to both PlayStation and Xbox.

For instance, earlier this year, a data miner found lines in Valorant’s files that contain references to PSN and Xbox Live. As per the leaker Shiina, the lines were included in the game’s files for “backend purposes,” implying that the console rendition is still in the testing stage. The console version is supposedly not happening “very soon.

After a few more months, another prominent leaker stumbled upon more hints. The image shared on Twitter unveils new icons for PlayStation and Xbox controls added to the game files by Riot Games.

The Xbox Bethesda event in June also added more believability to the Valorant console version happening soon. Riot Games disclosed that all its games would be featured on Xbox Game Pass, with pre-unlocked Agent to choose from for new players.

Riot Games may officially announce Valorant console versions in the future. The prospect of Valorant console versions appears hazy now; if the team is still hiring, then it may not arrive for a while. Although the console ports pretty much seem inevitable after several past and now semi-official rumors.
