WRC Generations Will Release This December On Switch

Automobile racing has become a big deal in the past few years. Due to the meteoric rise of Formula 1, everyone is aware of the sport and its different iterations. One of these iterations is the World Rally Championship which is also under the FIA. 

Following the lead of its sister competition Formula 1, WRC has also been looking to reach a wider audience. And, there is no better way to do that than to tap into a medium like gaming. Thus, the competition partnered up with French developer Nacon to develop video games for them. 

WRC Generations is the most recent entry in this series and is going to come out in October for all platforms.  The game was announced for the Nintendo Switch by the developers. Now, we finally have a release date for the Switch version releasing this year.

The Nintendo Switch version of WRC Generations will release on December 15, 2022. Japanese video game developer 3goo announced it officially on September 22. Hence, the FIA-licensed game based on the championship will release on Switch at the end of this year in Japan.

Before this, Nacon vaguely said WRC Generations will come out at the end of this year but now we know the exact date. 3goo is also a competent developer of racing video games. The Japanese studio has previously worked on Gear Club Unlimited and its sequel for Switch.

WRC Generations will have hybrid cars that are part of the competition this year. This is also the first time in 12 years the rally is taking place in Japan so this is special for the fans. Some screenshots of the game were also present in the announcement by 3goo.

In the first image, you can see the Subaru Impreza used by the Subaru world rally team when it contested the championship. We can see what the training will look like in WRC Generations in the 2nd image. You can also see the split screen mode in the image below.

A split screen mode has been a feature missing in many modern racing games. Thus, having this in WRC Generations is very good to see for the players. You can play with your friends and family without having to go online. 

WRC Generations comes out October 13 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Microsoft Windows. Nintendo Switch will get the game this December in Japan but there is no confirmation for other regions. Hopefully, it will release worldwide on December 15 for the Switch so players don’t have to wait long.
