Perfect for catching up before the arrival of Infinite Wealth.

Story Highlights

  • Yakuza: Like a Dragon is an action RPG from 2020, developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.
  • As part of Black Friday, the game has been discounted by a margin of 80% on Steam right now.
  • Ahead of the release of Infinite Wealth, this offer will expire on November 28.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon shifted paradigms for the Yakuza franchise with its turned-based gameplay as a JRPG—a first for the mainline Yakuza series. The game has been received extremely well for all that it brings to the table, and it appears that those who were waiting to try the title out have the perfect opportunity to do so now, given that the title has been discounted by 80% on Steam right now.

As opposed to its $39.99 price point, you can grab Like a Dragon for as low as $7.99 right now. Moreover, there’s the Hero Edition and the Legendary Hero Edition available on sale too, costing $9.59 and $11.99 respectively, but beware, all these offers won’t be sticking around forever. Players have until November 28 to make the best of this discounted deal; it’s game over afterward.

In case you’re wondering what’s included in the Hero Edition, expect the Job Set, Management Mode Set, and a portion of the game’s DLC. With Legendary Hero Edition, however, you get even more ways to play, and a ton of in-game content to immerse yourself into, such as the Ultimate Costume Set, Stat Boost Set, various additional jobs such as the Devil Rocker and Matriarch, and more.

Developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio shifted things up drastically with Yakuza: Like a Dragon, replacing Kazama Kiryu’s spotlight with Ichiban Kasuga—a relatively new character in the series with an engaging plotline. 18 years after his false imprisonment, Ichiban learns that he has been cheated on by his previous boss, thereby setting on a quest to uncover the truth of all that’s happened during his time in jail.

In other news, it was reported in 2021 that a sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon is in development, and that truly turned out to be with the announcement of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth at the Xbox Games Showcase this year. It’s supposed to come out on January 26, 2024, for a variety of different platforms, including both current- and old-gen consoles.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon was released in 2020 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a PlayStation 5 port coming a year later in 2021. The title has accumulated an 84 Metascore on Metacritic and has been held in high regard on major gaming publications across the globe.
