Bloodborne-Inspired Thymesia Demo Arriving Next Week

Popular Bloodborne-inspired indie action-RPG, Thymesia, has a demo arriving next week on PC during the Going Rogue: A Festival of Persistence event on Steam.

FromSoftware has developed quite a reputation throughout the years, ever since it released Demon’s Souls. They followed up with Dark Souls, a game that would go on to popularise the genre and create a whole separate category of games, which would come to be known as ‘souls-likes’, referring to how the games were similar to the Dark Souls series of games and other similar titles developed by FromSoftware. In the start, FromSoftware was the lone developer tackling the action-RPG genre in its own signature way. In recent years, however, many developers have released titles offering their own unique takes on the genre. One of the most recent attempts is Thymesia by OverBorder Studio.

Elden Ring, the most recently released FromSoftware game has taken the world by storm and is showing no signs of slowing down. The genre may just be dominated by FromSoftware, but that hasn’t stopped developers worldwide from trying their best, and thus, fans of the genre keep a lookout for titles that dare attempt to tackle the genre. Thymesia is one such game that has souls fans intrigued. A game primarily inspired by Bloodborne, and other titles such as The Witcher, and Devil May Cry among others to a certain extent, Thymesia is a fast-paced action-RPG set to release this year on PC as well as consoles.

The developers have shown off several gameplay reels and videos, but nothing can compare to playing a game yourself to get the feel of it, and gamers have been itching to get to play Thymeisa as soon as possible, and OverBorder Studio has listened. Next week, on May 2, when the Going Rogue: A Festival of Persistence event starts on Steam, the developer will release a playable demo for Thymesia on PC through the storefront. The event will feature rogue-like, Souls-like, and other games of the sort with discounting and the release of demos of projects under development.

This will finally offer players the chance to test out Thymesia and see what the hype is about. While PC users are getting a demo, the developer stated with a follow-up tweet that there will be no demo for consoles, unfortunately, and that console players will receive the game when it launches worldwide.

Thymesia is certainly a game to keep your eyes peeled for. The gameplay certainly resembles Bloodborne with its fast-paced combat and somewhat similar premise of a plague ravaging the world. Both games draw gothic influences for their world as well, however, Thymesia has plenty of stuff that makes it unique. The protagonist, Corvus, is a plague doctor tasked with eliminating the disease and restoring his kingdom. Alchemy plays an important part in the game’s world, and as such, players too will utilize the art of alchemy in various ways. The player can also unlock several abilities that offer more variety to combat, in addition to weapons and alchemy. Corvus is also able to harness the powers of the plague in various ways, offering a diverse amount of ways that this game can be played.
