The Destiny 2 Parting the Veil involves tracking Cabal Legion forces moving near the Veil’s site. It is a rather short quest, but it can be rather tedious to complete if you’re under-leveled or unprepared for the hectic boss battle. The main incentive for completing the questline is that you will be rewarded with the Epochal Integration Handcannon as well as being able to select a new Strand subclass Aspect.
- Players can engage with Destiny 2’s Parting the Veil quest after completing the main campaign and talking to Nimbus on Neomuna.
- The first part of the “Parting the Veil” quest will require you to defeat Cabal on Neomuna to gather Vex Tracking Data.
- You will then head to Maya’s Retreat on the right side of the map to defeat three Harpies along with Vex enemy waves.
- The third objective requires you to travel to a familiar location known as the Irkalla Complex to defeat three more Harpies and Vex enemies.
- Lastly, the final objective requires you to complete a special mission in which you need to travel to the Veil Facility and defeat the Imprint of Nezarec.
- Rewards for completing the “Parting the Veil” quest are the Epochal Integration Handcannon and being able to obtain a new Strand Subclass Aspect.
What Is The Parting The Veil Questline In Destiny 2
The “Parting the Veil” is a post-campaign quest given to you by Nimbus on Neomuna, and it has a total of eight quest steps/parts to complete, after which you will be rewarded with the Epochal Integration Handcannon as well as a new Strand aspect.
Personally, as someone who’s been playing the game (almost) on a daily basis, you shouldn’t have too much trouble navigating through each objective and progression it to completion. However, if you want a detailed explanation of every key detail in the entire questline, follow along with me as I walk you through each part of the questline in a step-by-step manner.
Defeat Cabal On Neomuna
- As shown in the image above, the first quest objective as you grab the quest marker from Nimbus will be to defeat Cabal across Neomuna in order to acquire 10 pieces of Vex Tracking Data.
- You can pretty much do the first objective anywhere and keep in mind that the Tracking Data will drop after every one or so kill you get on Cabal enemies.
- In my experience, the best place I found to get the objective done quickly was heading over to Ahimsa Park, where you can sometimes get enough Cabal to farm and get the first objective done in a matter of minutes.
- Furthermore, you can also hop into the Hydroponics Delta and Gilded Precept Lost Sectors, which has tons of Cabal roaming around in order to get Vex Tracking Data.
Acquire Vex data from Maya’s Retreat
- The 2nd objective of the Destiny 2 Parting the Veil questline involves heading to Maya’s Retreat in order to acquire specific Vex Data from a construct.
- The exact location of where you must go is marked above, as you simply need to go along the Cliffs toward the right from where you’d normally travel in the HyperNet Current strike.
- Once you reach the Vex Construct in the small cave-like opening, you will be greeted with three shielded Harpies.
- You need to overcome three constant waves of Vex enemies in order to lower their shields one by one and successfully defeat them.
- Although you’re not on any checkpoint or timer, these Vex enemies can be difficult to clear if you don’t have any good builds or PVE weapons.
- Furthermore, you also encounter a Vex Wyvern enemy amidst these waves, which can prove to be a challenging foe to defeat all by yourself.
- If you ask me, weapons such as Forbearance can immensely help you here due to their excellent ad-clear viability, along with any of the best legendary weapons such as the BXR-55 or Commemoration.
- Once you defeat all three Harpies, interact with the now available Vex Spire, and Osiris will remark on the data you’ve collected, thus completing this 2nd part of the quest.
Acquire Additional Data From The Irkalla Complex
- The Irkalla Complex is located at the same site where you fought off against multiple swarming Cabal Legionary forces in the “Desperate Measures” mission.
- I have also marked the exact location via the in-game cursor in the image above, as it is the large dome-like area on the far left side of Neomuna, a little to the lower side.
- Again, you pretty much repeat the previous objective steps here, as you will need to defeat three shielded Harpies with incoming Vex enemies.
- The area is large enough that you shouldn’t face too much trouble in clearing the wave of enemies, with plenty of room for cover and retreat.
Complete The “Parting The Veil” Mission
You can initiate the Parting the Veil mission right near where you completed the previous objective, as the mission flag to activate it will be present right near the entrance to the Veil in the Irkalla Complex, which is shown in the image above.
Following are the steps needed to complete the “Parting the Veil” mission successfully:
- The mission itself isn’t too overly complicated like most final quest steps in Destiny 2, as your main challenge comes in the form of its boss fight towards the end.
- If you remember the “Desperate Measures” mission from the campaign of Lightfall, then you might already know where you’re going here.
- But if not, you simply need to retrace your steps back to the chamber where you originally fought Calus in the final mission and discovered the Veil.
- There will be a lot of enemies in your way, especially Taken Phalanxes, so be prepared with any ad-clearing weapons such as SMGs and grenade launchers.
- Needless to say, as soon as you reach the last room in the Facility, be prepared for the boss fight of the Destiny 2 Parting the Veil quest.
- As shown in the image above, you will be facing the Imprint of Nezarec, who is essentially a Tormentor enemy that most players will already know of at this point.
- The tricky situation comes during the 2nd phase of the boss fight (similar to Calus) as you will be restricted in the middle platform, and the Imprint of Nezarec can tend to go berserk at this stage, chasing after you.
- Furthermore, the Tormentor enemies are known to air slam into the ground from a distance, suppressing your abilities and disabling any Super you’ve activated.
- I would strongly recommend playing it defensively and using “One and Done” supers here for all classes, such as Nova Bomb for Warlocks, Thundercrash for Titans, and Gathering Storm for Hunters.
- In my personal experience, I found using weapons such as Thunderlord and Ex Diris effective here due to the immense amount of enemies, but feel free to use whatever suits your playstyle.
Rewards For Completing The Quest
After completing the mission, you’ll be instructed to meditate on your findings back in Neomuna. Upon visiting Osiris back in the Hall of Heroes on Neomuna to turn it in, you will be rewarded with the Epochal Integration Handcannon, which is shown in the image above.
It is a unique weapon because, as of Season 23, it only supports a curated set of perk/rolls, which are the following:
- Gun Barrel: Smallbore
- Magazine: Ricochet Rounds
- First Column: Keep Away/Stats For All
- Second Column: Eye of the Storm/Incandescent
- Basic Origin Trait: Harmonic Resonance/Nanotech Tracer Rockets
Aside from that, you can also head on over to the Pouka Pond behind you and be able to select a new Strand Aspect for your Class, as shown in the image above. You can freely select it, so you don’t have to farm or spend any of the Strand Meditation currency to acquire it. The Strand Aspect available here will vary depending on which class you choose to complete the “Parting the Veil” quest.
That brings me to the end of my guide on the Destiny 2 Parting the Veil quest and boss fight. Overall, I think you shouldn’t have a hard time completing the quest as per the guide I’ve written (Steam ID: LIONT4MER), which was based on my personal experience. If you’re a new player attempting it, I’d strongly suggest looking at my Destiny 2 PVE weapons tier list to help select the best meta weapons for PVE right now.
