Modern Warfare 3’s Campaign Length Is Reportedly 3-4 Hours

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s early access is out and about, and as more and more players are starting to get their hands on the game, we’ve got to know of a fairly surprising (not in a good way though) piece of information concerning the first-person shooter’s campaign. As per JGOD, a popular Call of Duty YouTuber and Twitch streamer, the length of Modern Warfare 3’s story runs between 3 to 4 hours.

This is a major disappointment for fans, but hold up, the ridiculously short length of the campaign isn’t the only part about the campaign mode that sets people off. As the news finds its way over to Reddit, those who’ve played the game say that the story mode is extremely uninteresting and comprises no form of excitement whatsoever. 

“It being short isn’t even the worst part of it. Even the worst COD campaigns are flashy and have setpieces. There’s legitimately nothing interesting that happens at all in the entire campaign save for a really lazy version of No Russian that is basically a minute long,” says RareBk, commenting on the situation. 

According to HowLongToBeat, last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sports a relatively lengthier campaign, clocking somewhere between 8-10 hours, depending on your style of play. Modern Warfare 3, on the other hand, is a major downgrade on this front, with some saying that if you go solely for the objectives without taking your time with the exploration, the story wraps up under 3 hours. Sheesh. 

Anyhow, early reviews for the first-person shooter’s campaign are in, and they don’t look good either. Aside from the complaints pertaining to the length, there’s no depth to Modern Warfare 3’s story, and many have taken to calling the whole thing a glorified DLC at best not worthy of the $70 price tag it comes with. In contrast, Call of Duty has mostly remained praiseworthy for its high-quality campaigns in the past.

For those not in the know, Modern Warfare 3 is currently in early access with only the campaign made playable by the devs. The rest of its game modes, including multiplayer and Zombies, will unlock as soon as the title makes official landfall.
