Story Highlights
- Elden Ring has received another update on SteamDB, hinting at its DLC entering the QA testing phase.
- The game has previously received similar entries on SteamDB, building up hype and anticipation.
- In a 2023 interview, Producer Kitao stated that the DLC was a little ways off but work was going well.
Shadow of the Erdtree, the upcoming DLC expansion for Elden Ring, has seemingly entered QA testing. According to SteamDB, the game received a new depot update yesterday titled “qa-debug” and “qa-release” along with additions to several other listed components.
While the information is reliable since SteamDB tracks subtle, under-the-hood changes made to games on the platform, it’s worth mentioning that this doesn’t necessarily confirm a release window any time soon. Players are still advised to take this news with a grain of salt, temper expectations, and await official confirmation from Bandai Namco and FromSoftware.
However, Elden Ring has continually received updates on the website that hint at the DLC release being right around the corner. Last month, FromSoftware’s magnum opus got an addition titled “Unknown App” under the downloadable content section. For many, it served as a clear indicator that this was pointing at Shadow of the Erdtree’s imminent announcement.

Furthermore, these updates to Elden Ring on the website follow a pattern. The free Colosseum DLC’s launch was preceded by an entry on SteamDB. Nevertheless, a cautious approach is still the best course of action. Yasuhiro Kitao, producer at FromSoftware, was questioned in December 2023 about Shadow of the Erdtree to which he replied, “It’s still a little ways off but progressing well.”
