According to the Darkest Dungeon Twitter/X account, The Fire’s Edge will release in August as a new expansion for the first Darkest Dungeon. The announcement is particularly unexpected because Red Hook has spent recent years expanding and supporting Darkest Dungeon 2.

The original RPG launched in 2016, meaning this reveal also lands during its tenth-anniversary year. As Eurogamer notes, it has been several years since players last received a comparable addition to the relentlessly gloomy adventure.

Red Hook has confirmed that the DLC will add new characters alongside more content. However, a precise release date, pricing details, and the complete platform lineup have not yet been disclosed in the available reports.
