Cyberpunk 2077 Just Got Its Best Third-Person Mod Yet

CybrDrake's Immersive Third Person mod rebuilds V's movement from scratch instead of just repositioning the camera.

Story Highlights

  • CybrDrake’s Immersive Third Person mod adds a full custom animation set built specifically for third-person, not just a pulled-back camera.
  • The overhaul currently focuses on female V, with male V animation fixes planned for later.
  • The mod runs cleanly alongside most other mods, though it’s still a work in progress with some rough edges.

Modder CybrDrake uploaded Immersive Third Person – Best Of Both Worlds to Nexus Mods on September 3, and it’s already standing out from the long list of third-person camera mods Cyberpunk 2077 has had over the years.

What Makes This One Different

CD Projekt RED
Cyberpunk 2077 third-person mod.

Most third-person mods for Cyberpunk 2077 pull the camera back and let V run around using animations never designed to be seen from behind. CybrDrake’s mod skips that shortcut entirely. It ships with a custom animation set covering idling, idle breaks, walking, jogging, sprinting, stop transitions, jumps, landings, ladder and ledge climbs, swimming, slides, dashes, and item pickups, all built to actually hold up in third person.

The mod also handles switching intelligently. It automatically drops back to first person during combat, driving, cutscenes, and terminal use, then returns to third person once those moments pass. A free-orbit camera comes with wall collision, adjustable distance, and five savable camera profiles, and the game remembers whichever perspective a player last used, even after restarting. First-person animations stay completely untouched throughout.

Fem V Gets The Full Treatment, For Now

The custom animation work has gone almost entirely into female V so far. Male V currently gets animation fixes rather than a full from-scratch overhaul, and CybrDrake has said male V is the focus for a future update. For now, female V is where the mod’s third-person combat and movement feel the most complete.

Compatibility And The Current Rough Edges

There are still bugs during running and walking animations that will most likely be ironed out in the future.

In my own testing, the mod ran smoothly alongside a fairly large mod list without triggering conflicts, and CybrDrake’s own listing notes it was built and tested against the game’s core scripting mods, ArchiveXL, Codeware, Cyber Engine Tweaks, redscript, and TweakXL, plus Phantom Liberty as a hard requirement. Native Settings UI is optional but needed if players want the in-game settings menu.

That said, this is still an early release. CybrDrake’s own description doesn’t hide the rough spots; animation bugs are called out directly, and there’s a known crash on a save’s first load, which can be fixed via reloading. Still rough around the edges, but it’s already a stronger base than most third-person overhauls Cyberpunk 2077 has seen.
