Each class in Diablo 4 has its own special build with special weapons acquainted with them. The game offers many extraordinary weapons from various sources. Furthermore, the greater the difficulty you play on, the rarer and better the weapons as loot will be. This guide will cover one of those weapons, a scythe mostly used by Necromancers.
- The Black River is a Unique Rarity Scythe for the Necromancer Class.
- It is a Scythe that boosts the power of Corpse Explosion and Life on Kill.
- It is only available on Torment and Nightmare difficulties.
- You need to have at least a 3 or 4 world-tier.
- The most popular build with the Black River is the Corpse Explosion Necromancer build.
Black River Scythe Stats In Diablo 4
Before you go hunting for the Black River, it is important to know why and if you even need it for your build. The Black River Scythe works best with the Necromancer Class; it is a Unique item, after all. Additionally, it boosts the Corpse Explosion skill of a Necromancer by a great amount.
With the Black River, you get about 350 damage per second, which is quite good on its own. However, it doesn’t end there. The Scythe also gives you Life on Kill, which makes you deal bonus damage to healthy enemies.
I have listed the main passive stats about the Black River Scythe as follows:
- +[30 – 37] Intelligence
- +[9.5 – 13.0]% Damage to Distant Enemies
- +[13.0 – 20.0]% Damage to Healthy
How To Get Black River Scythe
Getting the Black River Scythe isn’t among the simplest of tasks in Diablo 4. There are a bunch of requirements that you must fulfill before you can even make an attempt at getting this Scythe. Keep in mind that it is a unique weapon, so you can’t just pick it off the vendor.
Here are some of the prerequisites that I suggest you should complete before getting the Black River:
- The first and most important requirement is that your world should be either Nightmare or Torment difficulty.
- Secondly, your world tier has to be a minimum of 3; the recommended, however, is 4.
Finally, if you have completed the requirements, here is how you should be able to obtain the Black River:
- Opening chests in world tier 3.
- Defeating world bosses on the mentioned difficulties and getting it as an Epic drop.
- Participating in Helltide Events with the mentioned requirements.
Best Builds To Use Black River With
To complete my Black River Diablo 4 guide, I have also listed some of the best builds you can try out with this weapon of mass destruction. Granted, I won’t be discussing these builds in length, but I will provide you with enough information to decide if you want to use that build or not.
Corpse Explosion Build
First and foremost in the Black River builds is the Corpse Explosion build. This build is one of the most popular builds with the Necromancer class. It is by far one of the most destructive builds in Diablo 4 because of how effective it is in dealing with both hordes and single targets.
It makes excellent use of the Corpse Explosion skill, which just makes dead bodies blow up to deal damage to any enemies left alive. This skill is boosted by the Black River, as discussed above, because it adds more damage to the skill and obliterates anything that can take damage.
Bone Spear Build
The second build among the Black River builds is the Bone Spear Build. Although this build is nowhere near as popular as the former, it is still very fun to play. If you like range and Javelins, this build is built for you.
The Black River doesn’t boost this build a lot in terms of utility but improves the “Fueled by Death” skill of the build immensely. Again, this build is more complex than these macro notes, but I would recommend that you check out both to see which one fits your style better.
At last, the time has come to conclude my Black River build guide. Hopefully, you found this guide helpful and fun to read. If there is something you wish to add, feel free to do so in the reply section.
