The best build in God of War Ragnarok Valhalla will allow you to easily beat Valhalla’s Chosen and ascend the realms in each cycle. I came up with this build after spending over 10 hours in Valhalla, and it is also quite beginner-friendly.
- The best build will allow you to survive the longest in each cycle to reach the final boss consistently.
- Each and every little component of a build has a huge impact on your survival in the long run.
- The best type of shields, Spartan Rage, permanent upgrades, relics, and stats contribute to creating the perfect build.
- Once players implement my build in their playstyle, Valhalla will become a cakewalk for them to complete.
- Author’s Note: I spent over 10 hours in God of War Ragnarok Valhalla, along with 90+ hours in the base game, and tested each and every mechanic to create this perfect build.
The Best Build
Here is a complete list of all the components of my best build;
Build Component | Type | Description |
---|---|---|
Dauntless Shield | Shield | Increases the effectiveness of parries. |
Legacy Spartan Rage | Spartan Rage | Use the Blade of Olympus to destroy mini-bosses. |
Motsognir's Call | Relic | Causes large stun damage which can be used to cheese boss fights. |
Health And Rage | Permanent Upgrades | Increase health and rage bars for maximum survival. |
Defense, Vitality, And Strength | Stats | Boost your defense and increase your damage to overcome Valhalla. |
Runic Attack Upgrades | Offerings | Getting this upgrade will spawn upgraded runic attacks inside chests in Valhalla. |
Shield
You can choose a shield before entering Valhalla, and that shield remains with the player till the end of the cycle. There is no better shield than the Dauntless Shield, which rewards you for your parries. Valhalla will throw a group of enemies paired with a miniboss at once, and you’ll need to parry a lot in order to survive. The Dauntless Shield will allow you to build up maximum stun damage with your parries, leading to early executions.
Spartan Rage
Undoubtedly, the Legacy Spartan Rage that is unlocked once you reach Greece for the second time in Valhalla is the strongest form of rage. It brings back the Blade of Olympus and allows Kratos to go on a rampage. In my testing, it also lasts longer than other types of rage. You can also execute combos and parry incoming attacks for strong counters using the Blade of Olympus, which destroys mini-bosses.
Relic
Once Relics are unlocked in Valhalla, they also become available outside, and you are allowed to equip them before entering Valhalla. However, each relic has a specific number of charges, after which it needs to be replenished or replaced. Motsognir’s Call is a really strong relic that deals high stun damage. It allows you to cheese the boss that you need to beat in order to ascend the realms.
Permanent Upgrades
As soon as the Tablet of Reflection unlocks, start grinding for the health and rage upgrades. These should be your top priority, especially the health increase which will allow you to survive for longer. Other great upgrades include getting the Resurrection Stones and the Health Looter ability. The Health Looter ability is one of the best methods to restore your health while journeying through Valhalla.
Stats
Defense and vitality should be your top priority as stat upgrades. Both of these stats will collectively increase the chances of your survival in Valhalla, especially on higher difficulties. The next stat that you should focus on is strength, which significantly increases the damage that you deal. Basically, I used up all of my Mastery Seals and Divine Triumphs in upgrading these stats as much as I could.
Offerings
You can find offerings in the Tablet of Influence. There are two upgrades here that you should absolutely get. The light and heavy runic upgrades are going to be extremely helpful while journeying through Valhalla. Once you get these upgrades to their maximum level, you will almost always get a runic attack that is level 2 when you open a runic attack chest inside Valhalla.
Runic Attacks
Runic attacks are mostly random and there is really nothing much you can do about them. However, as soon as you see a door with the runic symbol, you should enter it and open the chest the get a runic attack. You should also use all three weapons as much as you can so that runic attacks drop for all three weapons. Trust me, Valhalla gets a lot easier once you have runic attacks for all three weapons.
Valhalla is a free DLC for GOW Ragnarok, and you can actually start Valhalla without even ending the main story. However, it is recommended to end the story first. The DLC itself is a love letter to God of War fans and contains a plethora of callbacks to the original God of War games.
This concludes my guide on the best build in God of War Ragnarok Valhalla. I have entailed all the different parts of my perfect build in complete detail. I hope that this build allowed you to clear Valhalla even on higher difficulties. Let me know what you think about the Valhalla DLC so far in the comments below!
