GOW Ragnarok Valhalla: How To Get Blade Of Olympus

Learn how to get Blade of Olympus in GOW Ragnarok Valhalla and bring destruction down to enemies in this rogue-like game mode!

Blade of Olympus is the legendary weapon created by Zeus that was first showcased in God of War 2. This was the weapon Zeus used to take Kratos’ life, and Kratos did the same at the end of God of War 3. This powerful weapon with a golden and white metal sword with bluish hues has now returned in Valhalla mode of GOW Ragnarok, and this guide aims to give you a burst of knowledge regarding how to get it.

Key Takeaways
  • Blade of Olympus, a legendary weapon from God of War 2, makes a return in Valhalla mode of GOW Ragnarok.
  • You can unlock the Blade of Olympus during the “Homecoming” objective in the lower Realms of Valhalla.
  • Press L3+R3 when prompted to see Kratos wield the Blade of Olympus.

How To Get Blade Of Olympus

Blade of Olypmys unlocks as you progress the “Homecoming” objective in the lower Realms of Valhalla in GOW Ragnarok.

This happens right after you pick up Helios‘ head and put it inside a metal moving cage after he continuously reminds Kratos of what he has done to him back in God of War 3. As you move the cage and try to reach the end of the corridor, enemies will keep spawning for you to defeat.

As you approach the incinerator room, the door gets locked, and enemies spawn there. This is where you see the L3+R3 button prompt. As soon as you press the desired inputs, you will see Kratos wield Blade of Olympus with a Spartan shout!

Important: Once you pass the sequence, as I have mentioned above, you will then need to select the “Legacy” special ability for Kratos in the Spartan Rage option screen before beginning your run or attempt. After that, every time you have your rage meter at full, you can call the Blade of Olympus by pressing the L3+R3 button inputs.

The best part of using Blade of Olympus is that not only can the weapon restore the lost health, but it also builds rage. Every time you parry using the L1 button, Kratos will build rage, and attacking enemies back to back with R1, R2, L2, and Triangle buttons gives a small burst of health back to Kratos.

You can always exit the Spartan Rage early by pressing the same trigger inputs. This is helpful in situations when you have beaten all available enemies but still have more than half of the rage meter.

My Take On Blade Of Olympus

Even though the Blade of Olympus returned in GOW Ragnarok Valhalla game mode, I, for one, would have loved to see it as a usable weapon, just like the Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos, and Draupnir Spear for Kratos. By design choice, the weapon is currently tied to the special ability that only remains active for 5 – 10 seconds.

Blade of Olympus has always been an overpowered weapon of Kratos from the original GOW Trilogy. I believe Santa Monica Studios had to balance the combat in Valhalla mode by limiting this blade to special ability only!

That is pretty much everything you need to know about how to get Blade of Olympus in God of War Ragnarok Valhalla. If you never played the game’s story before, then I suggest you read GOW Ragnarok Best Builds, the best skills, and best armor sets guides and get some valuable insight now!
