About The Assistant Manager

If you’re reading this guide, then there’s a high chance that you would have explored a few labs in Grounded by now. In some of these labs, you may have encountered several floating robots which serve as guards for these hidden labs. The robots found in the labs are hostile toward the player and will attack you on sight.
TAYZ.T are the most commonly found robots in Grounded. Apart from them, you will also encounter robotic entities such as the ARC.R and RUZ.T. However, our focus for today is on the Assistant Manager found at the Black Anthill Lab.
The Assistant Manager is a mini-boss in Grounded; its design is similar to an ARC.R but has more modifications on the body. These modifications allow the Assistant Manager to perform lethal attacks that can give tough challenges to the players. The cranky mini-boss only appears once in the game and guards the Black Anthill BURG.L Chip.
On top of that, it also drops the Assistant Manager Keycard, which can be used to access all the doors in the Black Anthill Lab. Additionally, it also allows the player to enter the Stump Lab Outpost. Despite being a small boss, the Assistant Manager can give tough competition to the player. During the battle, he will go through 3 Phases before being put down for good.

How To Defeat The Assistant Manager In Grounded?
Now that you’re well accustomed to the Assistant Manager, it is time to go through the step-by-step guide, which will cover everything, from the location to the battle strategy!
Despite being a mini-boss, the Assistant Manager is an important enemy in the game. Defeating the Assistant Manager in Grounded will allow you to get access to some important resources. Furthermore, it will also allow you to progress your story further and face a few more bosses in the game. Hence, it is advisable to face the Assistant Manager once you have all the relevant items in your inventory.
With that said, let us now review the preparation phase you will need to go through in Grounded before going to the Black Anthill Lab to beat the Assistant Manager.
Preparation

The preparation for the Assistant Manager is quite similar to what you went through before facing some of the other bosses. However, the journey to the Black Anthill Lab holds some dangerous creatures along with an area infected with the Hazardous Haze. The poisonous gas can deteriorate your health while you pass through the area.
Luckily, we have got you covered for that as well. All you need to do is, make sure you have all of the following with you before you head on over to the Black Anthill Lab. Here is a quick checklist to make it easier for you!
- A Good Armor
- Strong Melee and Ranged Weapons
- Food and Water
- Torch
- Gas Mask
- Plenty of Explosives (Splatburst or Bratburst)
When you complete the checklist, you can then continue your journey toward the Assistant Manager at Grounded. The Gas Mask will let you pass through the Hazardous Haze without taking any damage. The Torch will make your vision better in the darkness of the Black Anthill.
Explosives are essential since there are multiple blocked ways inside the Black Anthill Lab which can only be opened up by blowing up the blockades.
Location

Locating the Black Anthill Lab can be a bit tricky. The secret lab is hidden in one of the far corners of the map; on top of that, the anthill is a dark labyrinth that can make you feel lost within a second or two. To make things easier for you, we have included an image that pinpoints the Black Anthill location on the map.
Despite that, we advise you to pay close attention to the current section since it will cover key information. This will help you reach the mini-boss quickly. In order to make things sound easier, we will navigate our journey from the first Field Station you encounter in the game (located in the center of the map next to the Mysterious Machine).
If you’re standing at the first Field Station, then the Black Anthill Lab will be roughly 750+cm away from you. It may not seem like a lot, but once you begin your journey, you will face multiple obstacles and creatures that will make the trip seem longer. We advise you to place a waypoint on the exact point as we have shown above. After that, all you need to do is follow the mark.
After walking for a bit, you will come across a rock that has a rake resting on top. Before you begin scaling the rock, we advise you to put your gas mask on. Once you’ve down that, climb the rock but be wary since you will encounter an infected Ladybug on top. You can either fight it or completely ignore it and cross the rock and make your way to the waypoint.
Try making your trip through the Hazardous Haze as fast as possible. Once you see the hazardous sign disappear, you can then take off your gas mask for the rest of the journey.
Follow the waypoint until you come across a bunch of trash bags. There will be gaps between them that you can squeeze through to reach the entrance of the Black Anthill.
Exploring The Black Anthill Lab

If you thought that your trip was made, then we hate to break it to you that there are more confusing twists and turns you need to make before reaching the Assistant Manager in Grounded. Luckily, following this sequence will save you loads of time in the game as we will help you reach the Assistant Manager straightaway.
Follow the tunnel all the way down, and make sure to equip the torch since it can be very dark in here. The darkness won’t be the only cause of concern because you will face plenty of Black Soldier Ants. After all, you are walking down a Black Anthill. So be on the lookout and take out all the necessary enemies you face on the way.
Continue going down and straight into the tunnels until you notice a red wire scaling on top of the rocks. When you notice them, you will find a split in the tunnels, take the left turn, and you will reach the Black Anthill Lab. However, the journey does not stop here. You will notice that all the doors will be inaccessible to the player, but if you climb the rocks on the right, you will find a broken entrance into the lab, which is blocked by a boulder.
Use one of your explosives to break the boulder and enter the lab. Once inside, make a left turn and use the Biometric Scanner to open up the door, after which you will be forced to face a TAYZ.T. Inside the room, you can use the control panel to unlock all the ‘A’ doors in the Black Anthill Lab. After that, drop down from the hole in the floor and head straight towards the door, which has an ‘A’ marked on it.
From here, drop down through another hole in the ground. After landing, you will see a hatch with an open lid. Squeeze through the hatch, and you will once again reach the interior of the hidden lab. In this room, you will find plenty of loot and an Ominent Lab Bed, which you can set as your respawn point. Progressing forward, you will enter another room with two TAYZ.T inside, defeat them and then unlock the ‘B’ doors.
You can now head back to the starting point and enter the main door of the Black Anthill Lab. Go straight until you reach an area that has many Black Soldier Ants. Here, you can either kill them off or simply break the window on your side. Breaking the window will give you access to the lab battle room.
Let us now provide you with all the details that you need in order to beat the Assistant Manager in Grounded.
Battle

When you get inside the room, you will find another control panel. Interacting with it will initiate the battle with the Assistant Manager, who will spawn alongside two TAYT.Z inside the battle room. The minions shouldn’t be much of a problem for you; as for the Assistant Manager, it will have 14 slots of health.
The best weapon to use against the Assistant Manager is any kind of melee tool (Especially Busting Weapons). However, having a ranged weapon will be of great use as well as the fight progresses, and more of his minions appear in the arena. During the initial phase, the Assistant Manager will seem pretty easy to deal with. It will only make use of two very predictable attacks.
Once its health reaches the 75% mark, the Assistant Manager will commence its second phase. During the second phase, it will spawn more minions and begin using new moves. Two more TAYT.Z will spawn along with an ARC.R. The best way to go about this phase is to deal with the ARC.R as fast as possible.
The Assistant Manager will be able to activate a laser machine in the room. The player will have to dodge the lasers by either crouching or jumping. The lasers will circulate in the room for a few seconds, during which it is essential to be on the edge of your seat. You could take up a lot of damage if you misjudge the laser and get attacked by the robots simultaneously.
Of course, the third and final phase can be overwhelming for a lot of players. Once the Assistant Manager’s health reaches the 50% mark, the third phase will begin. To mark the beginning of the phase, another ARC.R and two TAYT.Z will enter the battlefield. Apart from that, the Assistant Manager will also gain the ability to activate the four pillars in the corners of the room with blue static.
Standing within their vicinity will electrocute the player and cause damage to them. So the best strategy here is to stay close to the central pillar. Although, be aware of the lasers that emit from the central pillar. After you bring down the remaining 50% health of the Assistant Manager, you will finally end the battle.
Loot

After defeating the Assistant Manager in Grounded, you can then loot its body to get the Assistant Manager Keycard. Not only that, you will also receive 1,000 Raw Science points. Once you claim these items, you can unlock the door in the battle room with the keycard, which will allow you to explore the rest of the Black Anthill Lab.
Upon exploring, you will find plenty of valuable loot, which includes rare resources and crafting materials. Eventually, you will stumble upon another locked door which can be opened up using the Assistant Manager Keycard. Inside the room, you will be able to find and acquire the Black Anthill BURG.L Chip.
