Obsidian can be normally found inside the dry caves.

Usually, you can spot obsidian right next to lava. Dry caves can normally be found in the desert biomes. Once you spot the right cave, enter and go as deep as possible. Keep moving until you find lava. Make sure you have snowberries since it gets pretty hot once you are near lava.

There are multiple enemies down here, too; thus, be prepared. Once you spot obsidian near the lava, mine it with your rare pickaxe.
