Armored Core 6 Can Now Be Pre-Loaded On Xbox

An impressive AAA entry that does not hog over 80 GB of space.

Story Highlights

  • Armored Core 6 players can already pre-download the game on the Xbox platforms ahead of its anticipated release. The title will hog over 50 GB of space on the Series X platform.
  • The pre-load will be available on the PlayStation platforms two days before release. And no information about the PC version is currently out, but a similar time is suspected.
  • The project does not utilize the Souls-like formula to preserve its own identity. Moreover, it is not open-world because the devs at FromSoftware did not want AC6 to resemble Elden Ring.
  • The highly awaited FromSoftware entry launches on August 25 on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC.

Armored Core 6 is already available for players to pre-load on the Xbox platforms ahead of its anticipated release. The players can pre-load the entry in advance to play the game as soon as it releases on Microsoft’s current-gen and last-gen consoles. Idlesloth spotted the prominent tidbit on Twitter and alerted the players who have already bought the game to let the latest FromSoftware title simmer until it releases.

The game will evidently consume over 50 GB of space on the Series X platform, which is quite a nice amount after considering the huge storage sizes required for other high-end AAA installments. Armored Core 6 pre-download is a great opportunity for players to get the game and play as soon as it releases. The AAA entries that release without a pre-load option often end with players installing the projects for a day or two before playing.

It is currently unclear whether the Armored Core 6 pre-download will also become available to download on the PlayStation platforms anytime soon. It is expected that gamers will be able to pre-load the game on August 23 and beyond. It is roughly 48 hours before the global release of the game. This is quite the norm for the Sony ecosystem; pre-loads of popular games often commence two days before the game comes out.

The Xbox platform also seemed to have a similar schedule in the past, but the pre-download option has suddenly appeared on the platform. Even fewer details are known about the slated PC release right now, and we may eventually see pre-load options for both these platforms popping up in the future. FromSoftware has adopted a silent approach on the matter.

It is possible to play the game currently for a select few lucky gamers across Japan. A new trial play event at select game retailers across the region is currently underway. The game can only be played for a mere 15 minutes in the trial play event, but it should be better than nothing for players starving for action-packed and fast-paced combat.

FromSoftware’s latest entry does not implement the Souls-like formula we know and love and seeks to stand as its own identity like the older games. Many preview presentations in the past have affirmed that Armored Core 6 features a fluid combat and movement system and amazing attention to detail in the environment. Moreover, deleted game footage also hinted at a potential PvP mode that has grabbed the interest of many AC fans.

Armored Core 6 did not adopt the open-world formula like some gamers hoped; the devs did not want it to resemble Elden Ring. The project certainly preserves the unique formula of the series that made it an exhilarating and indelible venture in the first place. The hardcore action RPG launches on August 25 on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC. Unlike many AAA titles, it is not skipping last-gen.
