Upcoming Assassin’s Creed Confirmed To Take Place In Baghdad

Multiple Insiders have come forward to confirm the already settled rumors.

Assassin’s Creed franchise has dominated the gaming industry for decennia. The earlier iterations featured full-fledged unique parkour and action elements alongside the intriguing story to indulge the players. However, the last few installments, such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, changed the formula by mixing RPG and leveling-system elements.

Although some of the community accepted the newer formula, most Assassin’s Creed fans miss the old allure of earlier installments without the needed RPG elements. Assassin’s Creed Origins and Valhalla featured a large open-world environment, but most of it felt bland to the players due to the terrain’s lack of variety.

Nonetheless, the fans have been looking forward to the next installment. Diverse rumors whirred all over the community, suggesting that game might be set in the Aztec Era. In contrast, another side of the spectrum believed that the next installment would be in Japan. However, later concrete rumors solidified a different unexpected era altogether.

Substantial rumors suggest that the next installment is returning to the (g)olden era of Assassin’s Creed and will reportedly take place in Baghdad. The franchise is returning to its roots and will feature the same basic gameplay system that the fans came to adore over the years. For instance, there will be no leveling, RPG, dialogue, or gender choosing system in the forthcoming installment.

A new Youtube video by J0nathan dumped massive amounts of info regarding the upcoming title; most of the information has been affirmed to be accurate by multiple insiders. The next installment is dubbed Assassin’s Creed Mirage (codenamed Rift), and the setting is in Baghdad between the years 860-870. As mentioned above, there is no leveling or RPG system, and the game is returning to its roots.

However, some parts are allegedly not verified or true. The video also discusses “multiple cities to explore, separated by deserts and rivers,” which is agreed not to be accurate by the Bloomberg reporter, Jason Schreier. Moreover, the gameplay will be distinct from the prior installment, likely like earlier iterations.

Most other details are not verified yet and should be taken with a grain of salt. More unconfirmed particulars are discussed, like the remake of Assassin’s Creed 1 remake being included as a DLC in a season pass of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. It will not be the first time Ubisoft has gone in this direction.

It seems unlikely that Ubisoft will treat a full-fledged AC 1 remake this way. The Assassin’s Creed 1 remake will reportedly use assets from the upcoming game. Jason has not commented on this detail; it remains to be verified. The insider, Jeff Grubb, also claims to have heard that “Mirage” is the title for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed installment.

All in all, most of the concrete rumors have been confirmed by multiple insiders, and we have a general gist of what to expect from the upcoming game. The Youtuber, J0nathan, also posted more exclusive details on a Reddit forum earlier. Another important particular includes Ubisoft revealing the future of the franchise during Ubisoft Forward on September 10th.
