Final Fantasy 16 Might Be Coming To Xbox Soon, Claims Notable Leaker

The RPG was a timed-exclusive for PlayStation 5.

Story Highlights

  • Final Fantasy 16 could be arriving on Xbox in the future, as claimed by industry insider Shpeshal Nick.
  • The detail was told to Nick by the same source who leaked Visions of Mana for Xbox Developer Direct.
  • The leaker has not mentioned any release date so far. We suggest to take the rumor with a grain of salt.

Final Fantasy 16 is among the best RPGs to release in current-gen, but its PS5 exclusive release has held it back from branching out to more gamers in the community. But that is possibly changing in the near future. The notable industry insider Shpeshal Nick appeared in the latest episode of Riskit4theBiskit podcast (from 1:39:54) and claimed that the game is coming out on the Xbox consoles.

Nick claims that this scoop was shared by the same source who correctly unveiled Visions of Mana for Xbox Developer Direct. It is apparently the same title that was misquoted by Nick to "set the internet on fire." The leaker and most of the community think it's an over-exaggeration for Final Fantasy 16, but a plethora of gamers have still waited patiently for its release on Xbox consoles ever since the timed exclusivity with PS5 ended.

[Final Fantasy] 16 was the game I was f***ing talking about last week. John had to open his big Yap and be like 'Gonna set the internet on fire.' I'm like oh God. [...] I got the DM and they were like 'if you want something for the rumor mill Final Fantasy 16's getting an Xbox port.'"

The co-host Jon Clarke thinks that Final Fantasy 16 will come the following year after FF14 drops on the Xbox consoles. Nick's source has not confirmed any release date or window so far. So, we suggest taking the rumor with a pinch of salt. An Xbox port is expected to drop for the consoles anyway, but the fans are worried since the Final Fantasy 7 remake has never come out to the Microsoft ecosystem.

While the RPG is rumored to be released on Xbox consoles, it is also worth noting that the game was once in development for the PS4. As per the game producer, Yoshi-P, its development was stopped midway because the PS4 was not robust enough to provide good visuals with no loading screens. Speaking of the producer, he also wants the younger generation to handle the next mainline game in the franchise, Final Fantasy 17.

Final Fantasy 16 came out on June 22, 2023, for the PlayStation 5. A PC release is still unannounced but planned for the future. eXputer's Moiz Banoori reviewed the entry with the perfect 5/5 score, praising its dark tone with fun combat and stunning visuals that rivaled the other AAA titles last year. Before playing the action-adventure title for the first time, I suggest you read our ultima weapons guide to gain an upper hand.
