Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Square’s new live service shooter Foamstars, and Helldivers 2—February is loaded to the brim with thrilling new video game releases—that’s for sure. And if you’re like me and you’ve been keeping an eye on what Arrowhead has been working on next, don’t sleep on this enthralling new Starship Troopers-vibed trailer for Helldivers 2.

It’s extremely Helldivers appropriate that the trailer features more player death than enemy death,” says one intriguing comment on the trailer footage, and rightfully so. Outside of showcasing sheer mayhem with humans battling it out against aliens of all sorts, a demonstration of ragdoll physics has been put on display as well, and from the looks of it, players are in for a whole lot of fun.

Titled, “The Fight for Freedom Begins,” the 2-minute footage also highlights some of the core gameplay elements of the third-person shooter, such as mass weaponry, which means an array of arsenal always being available at the player’s disposal, and the emphasis on “working together” in what is basically a co-op-themed game right from the get-go.

Helldivers 2 had a lot more shown during last year’s State of Play, where a lengthier gameplay trailer was unveiled that went over a particular boss battle in-game. Best check that out while you wait for more information getting pushed out by the developer, though I’m not sure if that’s going to happen anytime soon, given how the title’s release isn’t too far from now.

In other news, an official blog post by Katherine Baskin, the Community Manager at Arrowhead, recently spoke of Helldivers 2’s PC features, including crossplay, keyboard and mouse support, controller input choice, and specs requirement, thereby clarifying ahead of time what PC players have to sort out before they can dive right into the sequel of the first Helldivers from 2015.

Helldivers 2 is slated to make landfall on February 8, 2024, for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC, exclusively. Arrowhead Games Studio first announced the project back in 2020, when it said that work on “a next-gen, co-op-oriented multiplayer title” is underway.
