Arrowhead Rolls Out Tasty New Update For Helldivers 2 Following PSN Fiasco

An array of welcome changes have been made to the game.

Story Highlights

  • Arrowhead Game Studios has issued a new update for Helldivers 2, not long after the Sony debacle.
  • Titled patch 01.000.302, the latest update brings major balancing changes and some welcome QoL fixes.
  • The patch also comes with the removal of an in-game exploit that players took crazy benefit of.

Out with the old news, in with the new. Now that the nightmare that Sony brought — or at least tried to bring for no apparent reason — is over for the Helldivers 2 community, the team and the rest of the lot can go back to further improving the fantastic experience that this shooter pushes out on a routine basis. Patch 01.000.303, whose details you can find on the game’s official Discord server

Here’s an overview of some of the major areas this update goes over:

  • Some weapon and enemy balancing
  • Crash fixes
  • Social Menu issues
  • DoT damage fix
  • Misaligned scopes fix
  • General fixes and improvements

The Community Is Over The Moon With The New Changes

As the news found itself circulating over on Reddit, the Helldivers 2 community has highlighted the resolution of the Damage Over Time (DOT) issue that didn’t work as intended before. With that hassle out of the way,

Here are the additional gameplay fixes that Arrowhead has brought to the table.

  • We have fixed issues with the way Damage-over-time effects were being applied. This should fix issues where only the network session owner could apply them, and other cases where they would be applied inconsistently.
  • Firing the Punisher Plasma while wearing a shield backpack no longer damages the Helldiver
  • Fixed issues with some weapon scopes not being aligned in First-Person-View.
  • The sound when stimming no longer plays while being interrupted.

Helldivers 2 Is A Live Service Done Right

In an era where every developer has its eyes fixed on the live service business model, prioritizing profits more than anything, Arrowhead has achieved something unique with Helldivers 2. The Swedish developer has made it clear to the world that fun live service games that are not after the consumer’s wallet are entirely possible.

eXputer rated the Helldivers sequel 4.5/5.0 in its review, calling it the best multiplayer game of 2024, and rightfully so. The title was launched on February 8, 2024, for the PlayStation 5 and PC. If you’re a new player, here’s the best early loadout in my opinion that should get you off to a solid start.
