Skull & Bones has been in development hell for what feels like forever now. It has been in the works since 2013 and has gone through numerous changes during that time. From constant replacement of staff to an ever-changing vision, making this game hasn’t been easy. Ubisoft hasn’t even set a concrete release date for the game as of now, so we don’t know when it’s coming out. However, Skull & Bones is in much better condition, according to the company, and has a brand new direction. Recently, alpha test gameplay from the upcoming action-adventure game has been leaked online and it sure is promising.
Six-minute footage of Skull & Bones recently appeared online, and the video basically explains everything about the game from the cooperative aspect to its roleplaying concept. Players get a thorough insight into the open world of this pirate game and it looks pretty good. The game takes place in the Indian Ocean and players can go to the pirate den of Saint Anne for essentials. It explains how players will start as a rookie in Skull & Bones and build up their reputation by doing tasks, which makes them who they are, so getting more infamous is the objective of this game.
Players can either play alone in a single-player campaign or online with friends. They can complete contracts and explore the world of Skull & Bones with them. Different ships have unique playstyles and players can build better ones as they get gain infamy. However, they also have to take care of everyone on board and not die, as they will lose infamy if they do.
Players can become bigger pirates by collecting resources in the game world and crafting them at Saint Anne. This makes their ships stronger and they can mold them to their personal liking to become more robust. Other ways that players can get rich are by sinking cargo ships and engaging in battle with them. However, the game isn’t this easy as you have to compete with other players or privateers who hunt pirates.
If players get a bit tired of the grind, they can just go to outposts and relax. Probably, the most promising aspect of Skull & Bones is the ability to play it with friends or alone. You can do whatever you like, according to the leaked gameplay footage. Battle other ships, gather resources and try to become the finest pirate there is in this action-adventure game.
