Mad Max Developer Working On Its “Largest And Greatest AAA Project” Ever

Avalanche Studios Group is working on the "largest and greatest AAA project" it has even taken on, and it could be an action-adventure open-world one, suggest recent job listings.

Avalanche Studios Group is a video game developer and publisher based in Stockholm, Sweden, most renowned for some of the most famed AAA open-world games, such as the Just Cause franchise, Mad Max and RAGE 2. Since the release of Second Extinction, a cooperative first-person shooter, the company has been working on its upcoming open-world cooperative heist game that it announced during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2021, Contraband. However, it seems like Avalanche Studios Group has another project that it’s currently working on alongside this one, and it claims to be the company’s “largest and greatest AAA project” that it has ever taken on.

Earlier today, we came across a couple of recent job listings on the Avalanche Studios Group website. One of the job listings is for the Animation Programmer position, the description for which reads, “Avalanche Studios Group and its creative division Avalanche Studios is looking for an Animation Programmer to join the largest and greatest AAA project we’ve ever taken on.” Of course, this statement is very promising, as Contraband has already been receiving a lot of publicity since its announcement, so an even bigger game is certain to get some attention from players.

However, this isn’t all. Another job listing for the Art Director position gives us some more details about what the company could be working on exactly, the description for which reads, “Avalanche Studios Group and its division Avalanche Studios are crafting our next cutting edge AAA open-world game.” So, it seems like the upcoming promising game from the company is an open-world one, which makes sense as Avalanche Studios Group is mostly recognised for its open-world games.

Furthermore, the Desired Qualifications section of the job listing mentions, “Experience working on an action/adventure or open world title,” which suggests that the upcoming game could also be an action-adventure one, alongside being open-world. In addition to this, it also mentions that the candidate should “understand game design practice particularly mission and levels, game experience and an active player,” which means that there may be a campaign experience to this game, too. Lastly, it also mentions, “Knowledge and understanding of various natural and urban landscapes – with an eye for accurate proportions, form, composition, and details,” suggesting something like the Just Cause games.

Earlier this month, it was rumoured that Avalanche Studios Group could be working on a sequel to its flourishing action-adventure from 2015, Mad Max, based on a tweet from a supposed employee that claims to be one of the characters in the game. Considering the rumours and these recent job listings, it may be that Avalanche Studios Group is actually working on Mad Max 2. However, there has been no confirmation from the company about this, so do take it with a grain of salt.

For now, this is all the information we have on this upcoming AAA open-world game that the company claims to be its “largest and greatest AAA project” that it has ever taken on. Hopefully, Avalanche Studios Group releases more details about this new project with time, as it seems very promising, to say the least.
