Fan Creates 3D Models Of Cloud Strife’s Weapons From Original Final Fantasy VII

Final Fantasy VII remains evergreen.

Story Highlights
  • A fan has hand-crafted 3D resin models of all of Cloud Strife's 16 weapons from Final Fantasy VII.
  • These 3D models can be purchased from the creator's Instagram account.

Final Fantasy VII carries 25 years of legacy, easily one of the most influential games of all time. Released in 1997, this game opened a new world for Japanese role-playing games in the West. The game sold more than 13 million copies worldwide, earning $16.5 million in North America in its opening weekend.

With the breakthrough of 3D console gaming, Final Fantasy VII was a massive entry in 1997. The game came following its predecessor, Final Fantasy VI, which was a critical success itself, but transitioning from 2D to 3D console gaming made Final Fantasy VII even more magical for a JRPG.

Final Fantasy VII will never be out of fashion, and we see fans consistently bringing it back.

The game has several critical mods, and its fanbase has ever-new ways to refresh the nostalgia. Recently an Instagrammer and a crafter, going by the username “mugicoarts” have handcrafted 3D resin models of all of the weapons that Cloud Strife had back in the original Final Fantasy VII.

Cloud Strife has the following 16 weapons in Final Fantasy VII:

  • Bluster Sword
  • Mythril Saber
  • Hardedge
  • Butterfly Edge
  • Enhance Sword
  • Organics
  • Crystal Sword
  • Force Stealer
  • Rune Blade
  • Murasame
  • Nail Bat
  • Yoshiyuki
  • Apocalypse
  • Heaven’s Cloud
  • Ragnarok
  • Ultima Weapon

One of the reasons why Final Fantasy VII was a huge success is the potential character designs by series illustrator Tetsuya Nomura. Plus, the enormous 32-bit musical score by the series composer Nobuo Uematsu. Anyways, if you’re a fan, you’ll instantly recognize Cloud Strife.

25 years ago, a mercenary, Cloud Strife, teams up with the eco-terrorist organization Avalanche for a few bombing strikes on the Shinra Electric Power Company‘s power reactors.

And the rest is how Cloud Strife and his teammates set on a journey to save the planet from a meteor attack. And yes, the tragic story of heroine Aerith, who gets killed right in front of Cloud’s eyes.

Fighting through the journey as Cloud Strife, you must have held his 16 weapons within the game. Instagrammer mugicoarts have created 3D miniatures for you to expand your FFVII collectibles. You can see all of the 16 weapons in their recent Instagram post.

Here is a screenshot of some of the weapons that the Final Fantasy fan has recreated. You may visit their profile for more details.

Moreover, while we’re on fan works, this Final Fantasy Type-0 HD mod runs the game at 120 FPS. The add-on also allows you to select a manual resolution according to your liking.

Adding to the hype, the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster, a collection of the first 6 Final Fantasy games has also been confirmed for Nintendo and PlayStation 4. Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster will be coming to the consoles in Spring 2023. Preorders are now live for the standard and collector’s editions.

Furthermore, Final Fantasy 16 will be a PS5 exclusive for six months. The title may get ported to other platforms after its exclusive deal expires.
