Epic Games showed a bunch of interesting data from their “Year in Review”, from the number of users to ranking their top games based on average playtime. The most played titles were divided into three ranks based on their overall playtime, the ranks range from Mythic to Epic. Some of the notable titles from each category include:

Mythic

  • Genshin Impact
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

We also got a glimpse at the number of games that were given for free last year as well as its social media growth.

Epic also confirmed that they gave away 700 million free games last year with a total of 99 free games that were doled out on a weekly basis including the free titles given away for the Holidays. The total price of all the free games amounts to a staggering $2,240 in total value.

One of the most interesting details that were revealed was that $355 million were spent by PC users on third-party titles on the Epic Games Store. From their most played titles, we can likely assume that some of these games include God of War, Borderlands 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, and Red Dead Redemption 2. Overall, PC players spent $820 million total on the Epic Games store.

Since its late 2018 launch, many assume that Epic has been desperately just trying to catch up with Steam, but this data certainly shows that instead of Epic bringing attention away from Steam, is healthily co-existing alongside it.
