Atomic Heart Has Finally Been Verified For The Steam Deck

Atomic Heart can now be officially experienced on Valve’s popular portable system, the Steam Deck as it has been verified for the platform. Developer Mundfish revealed the news in a tweet and a trailer showcasing Atomic Heart running on the deck. While the verified status has yet to show on its Steam page, the official announcement leaves no room for doubt.

Atomic Heart is a first-person shooter with events taking place in an alternate, technologically advanced Soviet utopia during the 20th century. The discovery and usage of a substance named Polymer allowed the USSR to reach new heights. The evolution of technology, secret experiments, and more gave rise to mutant creatures, terrifying machines, and superpowered robots that have rebelled against their creators.

We take control of a trained soldier with certain enhancements, P-3, in order to get to the depths of this situation and set it right. While Atomic Heart doesn’t reinvent the wheel with any of its systems, it definitely provided one of the most polished experiences of 2023, especially since this is Mundfish’s first marketable project. Despite the controversy surrounding Russia, Atomic Heart was judged solely on its own merits.

In our review, we commented on the stunning Soviet utopia stating that while the narrative leaves a lot to be desired, Atomic Heart is nonetheless a great FPS set in a beautifully realized setting. Despite being the first large-scale project from Mundfish, the performance hiccups were fairly minor. Moreover, Mundfish rectified the issues fairly fast which allowed players to experience the game with relatively fewer complications.

Several updates have been released since the launch of Atomic Heart to enhance the overall experience. In a patch last month, Mundfish added the feature of a Japanese Voiceover with a highly prominent cast. Industry veterans such as Yuki Kaji, Akio Otsuka, Tomokazu Sugita, and Ami Koshimizu.

Players will also have an incentive to return to the world of Atomic Heart later this year when the DLC is launched. Mundfish revealed a teaser in a tweet that displayed some areas of Facility 3826. The extra content is set to release this summer so players can gear up by getting the best weapons and equipment beforehand.

Atomic Heart is out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and last-gen consoles, and can now also be experienced on the Steam Deck with full compatibility.
