Players have been reporting crashing problems in Remnant 2 either when they’re starting the game or while the game’s loading up a level. This issue seems to stem from various sources, including corrupted game files, conflicts with the voice chat feature, and interference by system antivirus programs.
However, there is no need to worry: I’ll be diving into details on how you can fix this issue and get back to enjoying this stellar new entry into the Remnant franchise.
Before we delve into the more complicated solutions, let’s try these simple fixes first:
You can solve the crashing issue with the following fixes:
- Disable Razer Software and Services.
- Reducing the Frame Limit.
- Install the Required Redistributables for Remnant 2.
Uninstall Razer Software And Services
Razer Central (Synapse) is known to cause issues in GearBox titles, causing crashing and other problems. For some reason, some of the files put in place by Razer Central create conflict issues with the game. So, I suggest removing the program and its files to rule out the possibility of this interference.
The following are the conflict-causing files:
- C:\Windows\System32\RzChromaSDK64.dll
- C:\Windows\SysWOW64\RzChromaSDK.dll
- C:\Windows\SysWOW64\RzAPIChromaSDK.dll
Here’s how to do so:
- Uninstall Razer Central:
- Click on Start Button > Search for Add or Remove Programs > Hit Enter.
- Search for Razer Central > Click on the […] Button > Uninstall.
- Remove the DLL Files:
- Press Win + R > Type C:\Windows > Press Enter.
- Head to the System32 and SysWow64 Folders > Delete the Respective Files.
Once done, try launching Remnant 2 to see if the crashing issue is occurring again or not.
Changing the FPS Cap
Uncapped frame rates can strain system resources, which can potentially cause crashes during gameplay or level loading. So, by capping the FPS, the game operates within a more stable range, mitigating the risk of system conflicts and addressing the crashing issue.
So, try to cap your Framerate to either 60 or 144 FPS, as this could increase the stability, potentially resolving the crashing problem.
Install Required Redistributables For Remnant 2
Like most games, Remnant 2 needs you to install a few pre-requisite runtime software to run smoothly. The absence of these can give you runtime errors, crashing the game. The most notable and standard are the Visual C++ Redistributables by Microsoft.
So, if you don’t have these installed, I recommend manually installing them.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Head to the Official Visual C++ Redistributable Site > Download all Yearly Packages (x86 & x64).
- Let the Downloads Finish > Iteratively install all the Packages (Repair if already Installed).
Once done, restart your computer before checking if the crashing issue persists in Remnant 2.
My Thoughts
While I adore Remnant 2, it’s filled with bugs and problems. Adding salt to the wound, the issue has been widespread among the community, with people reporting similar problems on Steam, Reddit, Microsoft, and Nvidia Forums. So, the community has been thoroughly annoyed and linking the issue to Unreal Engine.
However, at least the problem was acknowledged by the Official Remnant 2 Twitter handle. However, the issue is that proper resolutions are still pending, which frustrates me at the very least.
🚨 Xbox players, thank you for reporting crashes you have encountered after today's update. We're currently working hard to resolve these issues for everyone. Stay tuned for more information as soon as we have it, Thanks for your patience, and sorry for for the inconvenience! 🚨

Still, hotfixes have been getting slowly dropped by Gunfire Games. A significant step towards this was the DLC 1 Hotfix, fixing major crashing problems on all platforms. But as mentioned, the issue still roams free.
However, I am confident you can pass the issue after going through this guide. But if the problem persists, I suggest contacting Remnant 2 Support. They will be better suited to handle the case in your specific scenario.
