Top 5 Upcoming PlayStation 5 Games You Should Look Forward To

Give me Marvel's Wolverine already.

Story Highlights

  • The PlayStation 5 is about to have an exciting array of video game releases in 2024 and 2025.
  • Some of the games that players are looking forward to include Marvel’s Wolverine and Astrobot.
  • Here’s hoping for more anticipated announcements over the course of the next few months.

The PlayStation 5’s library of first-party games continues to grow year in and year out, but so far, things haven’t been too amazing on that front, considering the limited number of PS5 games. While this particular debate rages on whether the rumored PS5 Pro is needed or not at this moment in time, it’s no secret that the PlayStation 5 is an extremely capable console, one that’s the preferred platform choice for millions of gamers across the globe.

As such, it’s got quite a few games slated for release later in the year and the next, and none of these, I repeat, none of these are titles that you want to sleep on. I put together this article to round up all high-class PlayStation 5 entries that the world is eyeing right now, and so should you.

These PlayStation 5 Titles Have A Lot Of Eyes On Them

After reading through the section, feel free to head down to the comments section if you feel like you have other suggestions to make,

1. Astrobot

The recent State of Play event has finally given us an official look at Astro Bot, the successor to PlayStation 5’s Astro’s Playroom that’s apparently stepping things up a drastic notch following the success and fan interest of the base tech demo. Astro’s Playroom has dumbfounded players with its level of quality and the way it utilizes the DualSense to the full, and now, all that and then some is expected from the sequel.

The best part is, that the announcement trailer offered a quick look at the release date of the title as well, which is September 6, and that’s not too long from now.

2. Black Myth: Wukong

In the grand realm of RPGs, Black Myth: Wukong is shaping up to be the next big contender, especially with the Soulslike element involved. We’ve seen a fair bit of the third-person action-adventure up until now, and in all fairness, most of it looks outright fantastic, ranging from the gameplay, combat, visuals, level design, bosses, and more.

But, of course, the actual reviews will come out once everyone is in the thick of it, which is not until August 20, 2024

3. Marvel’s Wolverine

Next up, we’ve got another supposed masterpiece in the making, provided that Insomniac Games is at the helm of the project. Taking up yet another Marvel project following the blistering success of the Marvel’s Spider-Man IP, Insomniac is about to take Wolverine for a spin as a PS5-exclusive venture.

I’m way too excited for this, given my love for well-made superhero games, so it’s not really an overstatement when I say that my patience has run thin for the game. It is quite unfortunate though that Insomniac was subject to a massive ransomware attack last year, which ended up dumping quite a bit of confidential info on the internet, including secret projects, Wolverine pre-alpha gameplay footage, and more.

Here’s eXputer analysis of the situation and a comment on the stance that Sony took in the wake of the event.

4. GTA 6

This is pretty much a no-brainer at this point, but GTA 6 is the one single game that everyone is looking forward to, including non-gamers, because, yes, that’s the type of title we’re dealing with here. The first GTA 6 trailer accumulated over 116 million views in a span of two days, breaking numerous past YouTube records in the process.

The title is set to be released next year for consoles only, with a PC version indefinite at present. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you to keep a close watch out for this one, but yeah, it’s something worth mentioning just in case.

5. Hades 2

Following the sky-high success of Hades by Supergiant Games, Hades 2 became a reality, promising more roguelike goodness in the same vein and then some. Unluckily for some, the title is in its early access phase right now, so console owners can’t really play it on their end. That, however, is no reason not to look forward to this terrific RPG, especially since it’s already turned heads despite not even coming out fully.

eXputer reviewed Hades 2’s early access and rated it 4.5/5.0 overall, with author Hamid Ali remarking, “Hades 2 commands the polish of a full release in early access, and I can’t fathom how good version 1.0 will be.”

6. Death Stranding 2

If you’re still waiting to play the first Death Stranding by Kojima Productions, this is your cue to get your priorities straight. The big bad sequel of the 2019-released action-adventure thriller is out either later this year or next, so when it does, make sure that you’ve caught up on the first game in the series because the successor’s about to be massive.

Here are some expectations that we’ve tied to Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, including better co-op, more diverse enemies, and new ways to travel, among other features.
